I had the flickering issue of the screen. I looked at the inverter and found that the 2 820uf capacitors were bulging. I replaced all 7 capacitors on the inverer board to be on the safe side and hoped that would fix the problem. No luck, i am looking at replacing the backlights themselves now to see if that will solve the problem. I won't go as far as replacing the invrtor board as it is just not worth the price.

Samsung Syncmaster 214T flickering

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should workfine. We just posted a repair guide showing how to remove the case ans replace the parts. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

How do you open up a Samsung 214T

you have to pry it open with a small flathead screwdriver.

Almost all of them are invisible, so jab your screwdriver in there and pry it sideways until you hear a pop.

You will not be ableto do this without some plastic being deformed.
