WRT54GS We bought a new WRT54GS and have tried many times with the help of the Linnksys crew to install it and have been unsuccessful. We are with Comcast and the Modem seems to be working fine for we can go by cable to our PC and it works fine but cannot install the Router. What is the answer

Your Internet service provider is comcast cable company.
You need to open the setup page of the router and change the Internet connection settings manually.

Connect the computer to the router and modem to the router.
Open the setup page of the router using 192.168.1.1
Click on MAC address clone. Enable it and click save settings.
Power cycle the router and your main computer will be online.
Then you can change the wireless settings manually.

I have the same problem. I found that there are many Comcast remotes by the way.

I called Comcast and they had no clue. But I called Sylvania and their reps were FABULOUS!!! Turns out, the TV makers send the cable companies the frequencies for each TV then the cable companies send them to a 3rd party to get the codes written.

This model of TV is new and there is no code written. The rep suggested that we countinue to check back on the Comcast website regularly to see if the code is posted. She said that the sales reps tend to get the info last.

The Sylvania rep anticipates a new code written soon because this is such a prevelant problem.

Linksys WRT54G or Linksys WRT54GS.
Both are working fine with comcast.

are you referring to the wireless password like WEP or WPA key? if yes,you need to connect your laptop first to your router with a cable,go to 192.168.1.1, then enter,username should be blank ,password is admin, theres a setting there for wireless security

make sure that internet connection working fine first..if it is connect you xbox via wired or wireless(if wireless, make sure that you connect to your own wireless network and enter the wireless security if there is)...check if you can get an ip address, better set to obtain the ip address and dns of your xbox, if all set and still unable to access internet, access the linksys router setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your internet explorer, when pop-up for username and password type admin under password, leave it empty for the username. Click administration tab and disabled UPnP. Check if your X-BOX working fine. Hope this help you.
