If the USB Ports are Connected Straight to the Motherboard, you would need to Replace the whole Motherboard which can be costly.

No Degaussing only works on the old "crt" monitors. Depending on the symptoms you are seeing you may need to reseat the lcd cable going from the motherboard to the lcd. Usually this is hidden under the keyboard. The users manual for your system should be on the acer website. One other thing to test, connect the laptop to an external monitor. If you are seeing the issues on the external monitor your problem is with your graphics controller/motherboard. My best suggestion would probably be to contact acer for assistance resolving this issue. Hope I was able to help.

ive had a look on the acer website and there is a replacement bios available , but theres no mention if it would enable large Hd support , rather than flashing your bios and potentially destroying your laptop i would purchase a external drive , you can get the enclosures for 10-20 pounds and fit a decent size HD in this

Sounds to me u hav not done proper Soldered it onto the motherboard. CHECK THE WIRING AGAIN.
