Minolta X-700 35mm SLR Camera Logo
Posted on Jul 06, 2011

Hello! I've got a Minolta X -700, it's pretty old, but I got it to work a few months ago just by replacing the battery. Now, when I turn it on and pull the advance back, the shutter still won't release. I've tried replacing the batteries and it still won't work. I was thinking about taking it to a local shop, but I didn't know if there was something I could do at home first.

This is an electronic failure in the cameras shutter release mechanism. Capacitors will need to be replaced and circuit boards need to be cleaned of the electrolytes that have leaked onto them. This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

My Bernina 210 Activa won't power up. I had it tuned up by a Bernina tech a few months ago and this is the first time I've pulled it out. No power/nothing. Seems like I'm just missing som

seems silly, but did you remember to plug it in? If you used a power strip, did you remember to make sure the strip is turned on?

Make sure the connection is plugged into the machine.

Good luck

Athlon 64 X2 5200+, 2.6 GHz desktop only runs on power saver setting

Hello there!
Perhaps it is time to change or recalibrate your battery, some of these particular issues, came from a old or faulty battery. other that that, its a motherboard capacitor blown issue, it can hold electricity, but the capacity to do it came to and end.

DMR-EZ485V won't turn on

This is clearly a serious manufacture flaw, it is possible there is a bad solder connection, but I would take it back and push for a replacement.

I have an old Minolta camera with quite a few great additional lenses. I'm looking at getting new camera and need to know what would I have to do to use those lenses?

That depends on how old the old stuff is. If the lenses have the ancient Minolta SR mount then you're pretty much out of luck (or you can continue using them with your old camera). If the lenses have the Minolta A-mount then they will mount on the Sony alpha-series digital SLRs.

Where can I get my x700 repaired. The film advance lever is stuck. Also the programme needs replacing. Thanks,

Look in your local yellow pages for a reputable shop. If you don't have one, you can search for camera repair online, but finding someone reputable can be a challenge.

I'd personally recommend KEH Camera, they have a website though which you can contact them. An estimate will run you $35, which is waived if you decide to have the work done. Their prices are on-par with pretty much every other shop I've used for repairs.

I was wondering if anybody knew where i could find a service manual for my minolta x-700 camera. i was trying to replace a bad capacitor, but i think i may have disrupted something, and now i'm not getting...

I purchased one on Ebay about seven years ago, not sure if they are still online. It was a scanned to CD copy of a true service manual, pricing was pretty reasonable from what I remember.
