I want to format my lenovo 3000 n100 laptop, but in boot screen it is asking for password and I forgot my password. My laptop is also not startin. Please help.

If you are able to open your laptop, take out the little battery for an hour or longer. This clears your bios, perhaps there is a jumper nearby to speed this up. All bios passwords are gone then.
Next you open your bios and make your cd/dvd the first bootdevice.
Insert your windows and follow instructions. When asked where to install windows you delete all drives and then create a new drive to format and install windows on.

Lenovo recovery through dvd

To boot to the recovery console follow these steps:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.
Click(or press any key) to select any options that are required to
start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.
2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3. When prompted type "1" or if you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer,
select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.
