Went to the beach for the 4th. When I went to leave and start my car, the car would not turn over. All the electical would work, headlights stereo, windows. However the car would not even turn over. No clicking, no evidence the alternator was trying to kick. LEFT IT OUT OF FRUSTRATION SINCE IM BROKE. Came back later that evening and it started after 15 times of turning it on. What could this be the starter motor, a friend suggests that it may be back connecting. This has never happened before and the engine from first glance looks pristine.

It makes it hard to diagnose without knowing what it is your working on, but might possibly be the headlight switch itself?

Will it jump start? What shape is the battery in?

Change the headlight switch.

Something electical must have shorted out. Would have to get looked at to tell.

I'd start with the fuse.Have you tried to dim them yet? I think this is the model where the lights turn on from the turnsignal switch and dim from the same switch, if so this multifunction switch gives problems.

Check it very careful use a test bulb to verify the fuse connection, sometimes visual checking alone is not enough.

Modern CAN-bus electronics can do some very strange things when the battery voltage is very low and your description of events matches almost exactly with those experienced by a friend shortly before he needed to replace his car battery.

My own experience tells me some stereos should not be fitted to some cars or a discharged battery will result (unless the wiring is suitably modified). It is important to read the instructions - carefully!

I strongly suggest you have your battery and charging system tested and the stereo removed until it is discovered to be compatible...

are the dash lights blinking on and off also when this condition happens, or is it just the headlights?
