Hiya, got a top loader BK6EL and it's not collecting lint anymore. Also not spinning as thoroughly. Wonder if there is a blockage some where. Anyone know anything?? It's still working but I don't want it to s..t itself completely.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Probably is still collecting 'new' lint but old lint eventually getting through the filter- which probably needs cleaning ;-0)
The fact that you say 'Also not spinning as thoroughly' makes me think that there is water left in the washer as the pump cannot clear it all through the filter making you think that it's not spinning correctly!
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My front load GE washer is filling with water and draining but doesnt spin, exept for the first two spins when started

it isnt the door lock or it would not work on the first 2 spin cycles and unless you have huge out of balance loads the door(not lid as lids are only on top loaders) interlock probably isn't at fault. i would cleanout the tub to pump trap inspect the pump for blockage and flush the discharge hose. it doesn't cost a penny to do this and has fixed many front loaders with the same problem

I would just like to know where the filter is on a top loading speedqueen washing machine. there must be somewhere that the bits and fluff collect.

there is no filter' it's what they call a self cleaning lint filter, collects lint while washing and then on spin lint goes out with the drain water

Where is the lint trap on the front loader

There is no lint trap. There is a coin catcher on the pump. The design of the wash action on a front loader is such there is less lint than on standard machines. One of the bennies of the design.

My washing machine isn't spinning clothes out all the way anymore... I have to run spin cycle twice to get water all out.

Hiya,
often when the machine needs to be put on spin twice to remove the water you will find the is an issue with the drainige, if the waist pip is pushed to far down the drainage or if you have lint build up it will greatly reduce the amount of water that can be released when spinning leaving it in your machine so i would surgest checking you drainage & pipes first to make sure they are clear enough for the water to escape

Hope this helps

Washer will not spin water out. I took clothes out of water and tried spin cycle again...still will not spin water out.

Hi,

You probably have a blocked filter on the drain pump. If it is a front loader the service panel will be on the front at the bottom of the unit on the left or right. Open this up and remove the filter and check for blockages. Have a baking tray handy to collect any water.Hope this helps.

Lint screen collects very little lint.

That is actually a good sign, since link is basically your clothes wearing away, one little piece of fabric at a time (lint).

If you're using a washing machine that is newer (front loader or top loader) that doesn't have a traditional agitator, that is helping to keep the lint, as you're not beating up your clothes as much.

Another big contributor to getting a bunch of lint is fabric softeners, which help break down the fabric fibers in your clothes to help make them feel soft, but it helping to wear them out too.

Another thing to check is to make sure the exhaust vent is clear all the way from the dryer to the outside, as a partial blockage could be preventing a full flow of the dryer air to the outside and thus another reason you might not be seeing much lint on the filter screen.

Hope this helps and best regards!

LG FRont Load Washer Dryer WD-1256RD filling up with lint

If you have not done it already, replace the lint filter. Follow instructions on manual. The lint filter access should be on front side of machine.

Other users had same problem on this model, I quote:
"I've only had it 2 weeks so far. It seems to be collecting lint/fluff all around the rubber door lining"
Source here.

Sometimes there may be too much lint if you use excessive softener and detergent.

Clean LG WF-T652a Top Loader Washing Machine

I have this problem too and I solved it easily !!!!

I hypothesised that something was blocked by dried up lint/silt. So I filled the machine with very hot water and also poured hot water down the lint filter outlets. I left it for 5 minutes and then started a wash cycle - and the water now comes out of the lint filter ducts. ! :-)

Fisher & Paykel top loader washing machine self cleaning mode

wonder if it means the agitator is full of lint? to remove agitator, put your hand/arm down center of agitator and unscrew the white plastic knob. Agitator lifts off. Mine is always clogged with lint and crud.

Washing machine

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and other stuff. Lift washer up a bit. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 screws. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off excess water from the drain pipe you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water or a wet vac. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in.
