On the computer you are calling the client, to help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

SOURCE: Failed to detect an internet connection

if you are having problems with your Linksys routers, reset the router and configure it again. In configuring the router, I suggest that you use the online tool that will automatically configure your router. It is similar with the setup cd but the online tool works better. The reason why the setup cd fails is that it has its own bugs. So just use the online tool. You can get the online tool on this website--www.linksys.com/easy.

Can't start my wireless modem

I think the problem is you cannot connect to the internet wirelessly using your laptop. The problem may lie in the modem or in the laptop itself.
First you need to isolate the problem. That is, determine if the laptop or your modem is the one that has the problem. If you can connect to the internet using your laptop in someone elses home network or free wifi outside your home, then the problem is your modem. BTW, modems don't have the capability to connect wireless devices to the internet. You need a wireless router. If what you have is a router, you're on the right track.
If your laptop can detect your home network, try connecting to it. If you're getting an error, call your Internet Service Provider. They should be able to help you fix the problem. Also, try updating the driver of your laptop's wireless card. You can do this by hardwiring your laptop onto your router, go to device manager, right click on your wireless card, then hit update driver. If nothing works, call your laptop's OEM.

I would like to know when it say laptop with built in wireless. Does that mine i already got internet service on it. Or i have to buy USB modem.

Hello Blac,

All the laptops available in market have built in wireless 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth® wireless networking. It means that you can access the internet via Wi-Fi or through Wi-Fi hotspots. In wireless connectivity you do not require the wired connection to access the internet. In home you can connect the laptop via wireless connection using the home networking router available in market. The advantage of wireless connection is that you can use the internet in your home anywhere with in 100 meters of range with proper wireless signals. You will require to get the internet connection from the ISP(Internet Service Provider).

Cant connect to wireless away from home

You have to manually connect to your University's wireless connection. Double 9maybe single) click the wireless icon bottom right screen and then untick the box for connect automatically under your home connection. Then double click on the wireless connection that you would like to connect to from the list of available wireless networks.

Toshiba NB 205 connects to router but not internet

The wireless configuration is set differently on routers, eg the SSID, and encryption. You need to configure the wireless LAN card in the laptop to connect/communicate with the different routers.
Some wireless LAN card allow you to setup different profiles/settings for different wireless routers. Eg one setting for the office and one for home, which allows easy connection to the Internet by selecting the appropriate profile/setting.

Lose Internet connection on wireless network

Go to the router configuration and change the options so you could use both of them, there is an option says only one type of connection or both of them, change it to both, and everything will be fine.

No Internet Connection

Hi kathy

I believe you are connecting to the internet using wireless. Are you using this laptop to connect to a home wireless network or you connect using a cable. This will be a good way to analyze your problem

Post the ip address that you are getting.
You can get the ip by
start -run-type cmd enter
you will be in the black command prompt
just type ipconfig
and let me know what you get under ip address.

Also let me know the wireless router, your Internet Service Provider and also how many systems are there are at your home if you are connecting to a home wireless network.
Also let me know which is firewall or antivirus program that you have.

thank you do let me know if this works and do share your experience.

thank you
