How do I change from having the answers displayed in scientific notation to normal number display?

Your calculator is configured to display results in Scientific notation
8*5=40=4.*10^(01). Exit scientific mode by resetting the calculator or changing the display mode to fixed or normal.

All calculator use scientific notation if the result is too small or too large. Some, like the Casio FX9750G II, offer you two Normal displays, Norm1 and Norm2 that have different limits when numbers are converted to scientific notations.
Here is how to set one or the other.
In Run>Mat press SHIFT MODE (Setup). Scroll down or up to reach the display line. Press F3 to select Norm1 or Norm2.

You've got the display set to fixed decimal notation. To change it, press SHIFT MODE 7 to switch to a scientific notation or SHIFT MODE 8 and then 1 or 2 to switch to one of the norm display modes.

norm1 switches to scientific notation if the magnitude of the number is less than 0.01 .
norm2 switches to scientific notation if the magnitude of the number is less than 0.000000001 .

Press 2nd [SCI] to switch the calculator to display all results in scientific notation. The results are the same whether you do it in scientific notation or not, it's just how the number is displayed.

For converting answer in to scientific notation do the following steps.

1.click shift key after that press mode key next to on button.

2.From the menu that is displayed in the screen press 7 for displaying answer in scientific notation.

I am not sure what you want because the mathIO mode IS THE ONE THAT DISPLAYS results as fractions.
You have two display modes: MthIO (with fractions, radicals) and LineIO (with decimals). Which one do you want?
To set MthIO press [Shift][MODE][1:MthIO]
To set LineIO, press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO]

Concerning the scientific display mode.
Decimal numbers can be displayed in various formats, Fixed,Scientific, and Normal. If you do not want scientific display of results, just set the mode to Fix(ed) and specify the number of decimal digits. However if a number to be displayed (a result) is too small or too large IT WILL BE DISPLAYED in scientific format regardless of the mode you selected.

Unfortunately, you don't. For numbers whose magnitudes differ too greatly from 1, the calculator automatically switches to scientific (or engineering) notation. You can press MODE and change the display settings, but there is no setting that will force the calculator to show this number without an exponent.

It is still a great calculator and what it is doing now is not the result of a defect. Rather, it is a configuration setting that someone has activated.
The calculator has three display modes for the numbers.
Standard 'normal', scientific and engineering. The calculator respects the user's choice as long as possible, but if the numbers are too small or two large it uses the scientific display format.
To set the 'normal' display format:

1. Press [2nd][MODE]. On first line of screen that is displayed, make sure that Normal is highlighted. If it si not, use the arrow to move cursor on it and press [ENTER].
2. Use arrow to move cursor to 2nd line. Highlight the number of decimal digits you want (0, 1, 2, ...,or 9) and press ENTER.
3. Quit the MODE setting. From now on the calculator will use the 'normal' display format with the number of decimal digits you chose, until you change this setting again.
4. However if the number displayed is too small or too large it will be display it in scientific exponential notation. Subsequent numbers that are not too small nor too large will obey the 'normal' format.

ok there is not a problem. the "E" is the calculators way of scientific notation. So if u were to see 1.70 e3 it would really mean 1.70 x 10^3 which is 1700. If these are small numbers and you are getting these "e" ur calculator is in scientific notation mode. Press "mode" then at the top highlight the word "normal" and hit enter. You will be back in normal calculator mode.
