While moving pictures from one folder to another folder, the picture left a copy behind. Then when I deleted the copy, it made another copy, etc. Now there are dozens of copies in the first file.
A friend suggested I should use copy and paste instead of using the Edit menu to Move selected files to anothe folder.

If phone is android at top is a plus sign in a folder, tap it and name folder. Find pictures from folder you want to move o copy and hold down on picture till a box in upper left corner appears and check. You can do this for multiple pictures. Then hold dow picture and they will fly tpgether. Then drag them over new folder and press done at top. Confirm move or copy
Yes you can, and I do it all the time. I copy the pictures to "My Pictures" folder. If you OPEN the DCIM folder by clicking on it, then SELECT ALL, then choose copy. Now close your camera folder. and OPEN "My Pictures" and then choose PASTE, all your pics should be inserted into "MY PICTURES". The reason your pics are deleted even after you've renamed them is because your OS is only copying them as shortcuts. If you don't want to copy or paste, next time you try to save one of your pics, hold down the shift key while dragging your pic to your folder and it won't move it as a shortcut. Hope this helps.
Simply select your pictures from the c drive or the folder right click and copy then go to e drive and right click paste.
The files will get copyed, ones copyed check that they are all there and then you can go to your c drive and right click delete the pictures you just moved.
It depends on where you are copying the pictures from. Are these photos already on your computer? A thumb drive? Or are you trying to copy photos from a website?
If you have photos on your computer or an external drive like a thumb drive that you want to "copy" to a folder, you simply highlight the files, right click, select copy, then go to the folder where you want to put the photos, right click and select paste.
If you want to "move" the files from one folder to another it is slightly more complicated. The easiest method is to have both folders open and visible on your computer. Highlight the photos you want to move, hold down the left mouse button and drag the photos to the new folder.
Did you delete the pictures from the internal camera memory and not the SD card? An easy way to solve this problem would be to insert the card into your computer and open up "My Computer". In here you should see your memory card mounted as a usable drive. Open up the SD card, select everything in it by pressing "Control" + "A" and then hitting delete. This will clean everything off of the card. If you want to save the files from the card first, simply make a folder somewhere on your PC and drag all of the files from the SD card into that folder after pressing "Control" + "A". If you are still getting an error stating your card is full after removing them this way you may need to re-format the card or it may be malfunctioning.
It sounds like you are "moving" the pictures instead of "copying" them. Move deletes the source, while copy doesn't.
I can't tell exactly how you are downloading them, but if you are dragging them from one folder to another on the computer you can control whether it moves or copies. In Windows, you use the right hand button instead of the left to do the dragging, a dialog will pop up and allow you to select copy instead of move.
hold your control button down while you click once on each picture you want to move so that all the pictures you wish to move a hilighted. you now have the choice of right clicking on one of them and selecting copy from the list. then you go to the folder you want the pictures in and right click again and select paste.
Another option is to drag and drop them. by that method you would open the folder with the pictures and the destination folder as well. left click once on a picture you want to move..... hold the button down and move the mouse pointer to the destination folder.... let go of the mouse key.
