The prompt is there to tell you that the hard disk no longer contains an operating system - the BIOS is fine. Try to reinstall using a recovery CD (order it from Asus if you don't have it) - if it fails then the hard disk itself has died and you must replace it.

HP m9510f will not boot up.

no boot M9510f,
no boot is like the all time #1 complaint on PCs.
endless posts online on this and for sure at HP.. ever read their forums?
there real name is (and is supported still at HP) is
HP Pavilion Elite m9510f Desktop PC
no statement on screens, is the screen dead, and black
never once see HP logo, never see words to the effect
hit ESC to enter HP setup (BIOS) or F1 or F10 or????? do tell please.
that is first, forget windows now (its LAST)
screen model or maker stated ,
my guess a flat screen LCD
and the front button on it works and the screens local OSD menu works, right?
if PC is dead, the screen is checked first. for sure if BIOS screens in the PC are 100% dead, no text no F1,ESC,F10 keys prompted in text means PC dead or SCREEN dead.

here is HP page on your pc
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-elite-m9500-desktop-pc-series/3824167/model/3876396/troubleshooting

here is black screen tests.
the screen (DISPLAY monitor) has its own brain
and is called OSD, on screen display
we check that first. always........ if screen is made before 2000 year
we trash it.... LOL (before first brains inside )

black screens, Desktop only.

HP IQ772 power but no boot

all PC's fail. (Virus is #1 )
what OS (xp,vista, w7) ?
is this PC in UK, England?
HP shows, CIRCA 2007 build, (1st) and is near out of support)
sure... you skipped the first steps.
1: battery out, get it out of the pc.
2: use only he a.c line pack ,
3 it has PSU are all power pins reading correct voltage? must
4: if above ok, the BIOS works, on all systems,

GET BIOS to work first.

do you know your BIOS hot keys, its very important to learn this first
if working on any PC made ever. 1981 to now.

see this yet, the BOOKS

best is not to pull any Cmos battery , just use a volt meter
there, 3v is good, 2v bad. see? or scramble all BIOS setting
including boot drive... arg.

this box has no standard VGA 15pin jack on rear, making
tests with external display hard
use a flashlight pointed at screen see any data
if yes the blacklight in the LCD is dead. (BIOS screens dead)

does boot up, F11 bring up windoz recoverY.

odd machine, wireless mouse and keyboard
the latter begs the question gee how can we get to BIOS
lacking a keyboard, driver in BIOS ROM.
curious ,,, on line i see no body getting BIOS screens.
fresh battery in keyboard,

what happens here.
If the hard drive errors happen before you can get to a recovery screen, try this:
  1. Turn off the computer and wait at least 5 seconds with the computer in a full off state.
  2. Turn on the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly as the computer starts. An "Advanced Boot Options" screen opens.
  3. Select Repair Your Computer and press Enter .
  4. Select a keyboard layout that matches your country/region and click Next .
  5. When the login prompt appears, select the user name with Administrator rights (not Administrator) from the User Name drop down. The user name with Admistrator rights is most likely the first user name that was entered during the initial computer setup.
  6. Type the logon password into the Password field (press Enter if you didn't put in a password) and then click OK .

A System Recovery Options window opens.
  7. Click Command Prompt .
  8. At the prompt enter: c:
  9. At the c prompt, enter: chkdsk /b
  10. If a message opens saying you need to forcibly dismount the drive say yes.
  11. When it is done, try to do an F11 recovery again.

black screen has many causes.
if its not just the back light dead, use a flash light first
get BIOS to work, do you get F8 or F11 screens
this is key to solving the true cause on all PCs.
one can use a USB keyboard if yous dies.
ask here , on the real forum.

i read your 2 users guides, no one word on BIOS
that is BS. and due to now rear VGA port (has some mini bs jack)
you cant see if the PC is dead or just the silly display or GPU chip dead.,
a preplexing box, i never buy those i get real DT or top HP laptops.
all in one boxes are custom, and tricky to fix.
for sure the nasty VGA trick missing, JACK

I am encountering a problem with my eee netbook. When i turn it on , it goes to a blank screen wit a blinking white crusor. Can u please give me step by tep etailed instructions on what to do because i am...

I think what you're describing is a blinking white vertical line, much like you would see in a word processor (or dos/command prompt if you are familiar with those).

If so, the problem may just be a CD/DVD in the optical drive.

If this is not the case boot the computer and enter the bios (the f key can differ, sometimes 'f2' or 'del' key). Make sure that the first boot device is set to the correct hard drive (usually under a 'boot' or 'boot settings' and then 'boot device priority') header in the bios.

If this still does not work, you may need to reformat your computer.

I have Asus Eee pc 901 installed with Windows xp home edition, and it recently detected a trojan virus. I could use my computer with limited access for some time but now it just goes to blue screen on...

It sounds like you may have 2 problems. 1) as you've state you have a virus; this being the case I suggest reinstalling your operating system. 2) if it's blue screening at BIOS then you most likely have an issue with your memory\RAM. The virus shouldn't be causing it to blue screen while in the BIOS; although it's not unheard of. When you reinstall Windows you will lose everything. You can restore; if you have a recovery partition, by tapping F8 while booting up. It should go to a black screen with white text. If you see Utilities or Recovery, then select that and press enter. If you don't have a recovery partition then you will have to use a recovery disc to reinstall. If you don't have a disc or a CD\DVD ROM then you will be better off taking it to a repair shop where they should have what is needed to reinstall your operating system.

Eee pc boots to blinking cursor

You need to enter the bios when the computer turns on and configure the boot priority to boot from wherever you need it to for the Restore DVD. Then Save your changes and exit, now it should boot from the Restore DVD.

To enter BIOS it should tell you what button to press as the computer POST's, if not Google it, or try all the function keys.
