Find and examine the conv ICs, on their big heatsink. They may be unsoldered down at their legs, or need replacement.

you need to replace your convergence ICs. Post your model number of your set, and I will post the correct stk numbers and a link where you can get new ones.

I expect the answer to your question is YES! The convergence amplifiers are a common problem in many projection sets. When you search for the replacements you should find that the originals have been superceded by improved parts. Also be aware that when these parts fail, they will usually damage a resistor in the convergence yoke return path. The resistor must be replaced with one of the correct value or the convergence, though responsive, will be out of range.
If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. Here is there link.
