SOURCE: Component out doesn't work on Denon AVR-3805

You can try resetting the unit, it is a procedure that can make things start working again. Be aware that it will put all settings back to factory defaults, and you will need to go thru and set everything back up again. If it does not work, then you most likely have a component failure that will require serious electronic troubleshooting and this would be best done by a professional.

Here is the reset procedure.

1. Turn power off with the main power switch on the front display, this should make the red led go out. There are 2 power switches on these Denon's. One is a bigger switch and is used most often, the other is a small mechanical switch that is normally left turned on at all times.

2. Hold down the "Direct" and "Pure Direct" buttons together (both at the same time) and while holding them down you turn the power back on again with that little power switch you just turned off.

You should see all the lights in the display light up and then it will turn on to the default setting which, if my memory is right, will be the tuner at it's lowest setting.

Then go thru and reset everything back the way you like it and need it. Make sure that all the video inputs are properly set for each function so you are not trying to get a composite signal out of a function that may be set for S-video or something like that.

Hope this is some help for you.

Dave

SOURCE: Denon RC 969 Remote .Not Lighting up anymore ?.

These remotes are known to be weak, Denon is aware of the problem, here in the Netherlands they've sold out. Spare part no longer available. Try an older remote to an Denon AVR. these will work for say, 98% and are more reliable.

Ho do I open a Denon remote control unit

Make sure there are no hidden screws , top and bottom of remote snap together, usually top snaps over bottom so you have to slide something between halves and push in on bottom or pull out on top to get them to seperate.

(I) spilled milk in my Denon RC-802 audio/video remote control. How do I get it open to clean it without damaging it?

You can find replacement remotes at places like this:

Replacement Remotes

As for cleaning it, most remote controls have TWO different ways of fastening the two halves together. The first is screws. Open the batter compartment and remove the batteries. You may find one or more screws there. Remove the screws and set them aside in a safe place. Sometimes the screws are under labels on the back (the screws are almost always on the back side of the remote). Unfortunately, after you remove the screws, the remote may not open. This is because it is usually also held together by plastic snap tabs. Each remote is different, but the method used is always the same: you take a very thin metal blade, like the edge of a putty knife, and move it along the groove separating the front and back halves of the remote until you feel a "bump" of some sort. Press in firmly on this bump while at the same time torquing the blade to separate the two halves. You will have to do this for each latch, making sure the previous latch you undid doesn't click back in place. You will probably end up marring the edge of the remote a little bit while you do this, but that is unavoidable.
