I have had success with this camera photo recovery program... You can read the detail instructions from
http://www.asoftech.com/articles/how-to-recover-deleted-photos-from-camera.html

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Camera reset or system restore won't be necessory to erase all your data (on the memory card or stick of your FIJI camera). You can rely on this digital photo recovery software to get them back easily.

Just Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back untill you can retrieve your photos safely!

Your Fuji FinePix F470 Digital Camera has a memory card on it and all your photos are saved on the memory card.So you can recover your photos from memory card with third party recovery software.I have succeed to recover photos from formatted SD card with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your memory card to look for lost data.
By the way,you can download a trial version and scan your memory card for free to check out whether your pictures can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm

Hello Cikp,

Please try the Data Recovery Software available in market to recover the files.Connect your memory card using the external memory card reader in good windows machine. Install the demo software of the data recovery software for recovering FAT to FAT 32 partition. Because the memory card have FAT or FAT 32 partition. Scan the memory card using the Data Recovery Software. If the demo software displays all your data then you need to purchase their full version software to save your valuable data. Because in demo software you are not able to save the data. Please try the data recovery software for FAT or FAT 32 partition.

Are you sure you'd saved all your lost photos on the memory card of this camera?
If so, you do have chances to retrieve them all back:
1. Do not use this camera, especially the inner memory card. The deleted or lost data is still on the memory card. But, anything new saved on this card could be a threat to these lost files.
2. Plunge this memory card to your computer via a card Reader.
3. Download a lost photo recovery freeware to retrieve these lost files back for free . There are plenty of data recovery programs that could help restore your data. But, not all of them could work as efficiently as this data recovery freeware. Read more information of this data recovery freeware here:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/02/photo-recovery.html
4. Save and back up these restored photos on different drives or cards.

Will the battery in my fuji finepix f470 charge when the camera is connected to my laptop (via camera usb used to get the photos) or do I have to use the charger that came with it and plug it into the...

The camera will not charge through the USB. In fact connecting the camera to a computer drains the battery faster, since the camera has to expend juice communicating with the computer (even if only to say it has nothing to say). See page 10 of this manual.

My F470 Fuji Fine Pix takes stripey pictures but when it is in movie mode it is fine

Your cameras shutter is sticking. lines on photo's or over exposed photo's are due to the shutter not closing completely over the lens.
Video is fine because it does not use the shutter.

The shutter will require cleaning.

Fuji FinePix F470 works perfectly unless a memory card is present

Some cameras are very sensitive when it comes to memory cards for some odd reason. I would try a different make of sd card.

Read error

Try formatting the card in the camera using the setting in the camera's menu.
Some makes of xd or sd cards do not work correctly in fuji camera's. Sometimes even formatting them in the camera does not have any effect.
