The touch pads are a common fault on microwave ovens they go out for a variety of reasons but mostly due to moisture getting inside the pad. These can be replaced pretty reasonable and are not that hard to do. You can google your make and model and find a touch pad or get one from your local parts supplier. Whn you replace it make sure you never use any liquid or spray on the front of the oven, it will slip through the cracks and ruin things. You might also take the unit aprt and look for a fuse, some models have them and others don't. If there is one it will be inside the door next to the touch pad.

Khhs179lss touch pad replacement not working

If by "touchpad" you mean the touch screen (LCD assembly), those and their connecting strips are very fragile.
If the screen is not lighting after reinstallation, I would first check to be sure the white 3-wire cable is properly plugged back into the lower power board.
If it is, and everything is connected correctly, then you may have received a defective touch screen (LCD assembly) and would need to return it for replacement.
Again, these units are very delicate and the connectors are finicky.
I have an unedited video that shows you how to remove the LCD assembly. It would be useful in reassembly as well.
It is here:

GE, Model# PVM2070SM1SS microwave - touch panel does not respond

GE has a special program, and your microwave is very likely a part of this program. Please contact GE consumer relations asap at 800-386-1215, at the prompt press 5. Our same microwave model has that problem. GE is replacing the entire microwave free of charge.

All indicators show an "L"

The L on the screen was for lock on the unit, the memory may have gotten corrupted due to a voltage spike. Try holding the start button for 4 seconds to unlock the unit.

Hope helps.

The screen seems locked with no response to any touch pad 'key' I switched it off at the wall but now its just asking me to press the 'clock' key but no response. Before that it seemed to work at some...

Two possibilities...the controller has failed -- buy new microwave!
Second possibility...many microwaves have a child lock feature. Open the door up and read the labels stuck around the door frame of the cooking cabinet. If yours has this "child lock" feature, it will tell you how to unlock it.

If this helps you, please select YES to one of the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

Touch screen not responsive. Can operate oven only by pressing one-minute button. Cannot set clock, change settings, etc.

try opening up the control panel, disconnect the connector ribbon coming from control panel and connected 2 control board by just pulling it out and cleaning end of connector ribbon and iserting it back.some times this works.if not then 4 sure touch panel needs to be replaced.
