My Dell Inspiron 1501 will start and let me login ut however only the wallpaper shows up. No icons or start menu and ctrl, alt, del does not work, nothing happens. I have read comments telling me to restart in safe mode but wen I press F8 at start up it only gives one option. I pressed F2 and I'm in the PheonixBIOS Setup Utility but don't see how to enter safe mode! I'm confused as to how I find the safe mode option. Thank you in advance for any help!

press ctrl+alt+del and then a box opens
in the box open file on top left and choose new task and type explorer.exe and check it
you hava to get everything back
after giving ur password press alt+ctrl+delete then the desktop icon will be apear. set ur windows time and date.if this happen will be come again so change ur cmos bettrey
Does the start button work? If not, run ctrl-alt-delete and go to processes. Check for explorer.exe. If it is not there, click on New Process and type EXACTLY explorer.exe and hit enter.
Try pressing ctrl alt del twice at the login screen and you should get a different login window where you can change the username. Change it to administrator and press enter without any password
