SOURCE: the scanner lid won't close

I have a Lexmark X6570 All In One Wi-Fi model. Just had the problem where I went to print and received an error message saying that the cover was open (when it wasn't). I noticed that the back right hand corner had slightly popped out of place for no apparent reason. Tried to pus it back into place with no luck.

Here's what happened and how to fix it:
There are two plastic hinges at the back of the 6500 series printers that allow the top cover to open for access to the ink cartridge carriage. The lower ends of the hinges are cylindrical shaped and each contains a very stiff steel spring inside. They are designed to prop the cover of the printer up and hold it open when opened. As the plastic material ages, it may weaken and the tension of the internal spring may break the round end of the hinge off. This causes the printer cover to not fully close (even though it may appear so). There is a switch in the main printer body that detects when the top cover it open (even partially), and the printer won't work in this condition.

To fix this, open the top cover and carefully disconnect the 3 wire harnesses and the ribbon cable that run from the top cover to the base of the printer. Then remove the 'paper jam' hatch cover from the back of the printer. There are two phillips screws on the back panel of the pinter (one is located behind the paper jam hatch cover). Remove these screws (they secure the plastic hinges in place). You should now be able to lift the complete top cover/ scanner table assembly off the rest of the printer. Look for a steel spring about 3 inches long...remove this along with the round base of the hinge which may have broken off and remained down inside the printer. Glue this piece back onto the end of the hinge, but leave the spring out. Now reassemble the printer in the reverse order of disassembly and you should be good to go. Note that the top cover or the printer will not stay propped open on it's own with the spring removed, but this is not really an issue.

I am not sure if new replacement hinges are readily available from Lexmark or other sources.

Cannot close lid on opal coffee machine

If you're having trouble closing the lid on your Opal coffee machine, here are a few things you can try:
1. Check for any obstructions: Make sure there are no coffee grounds or other debris stuck in the lid or the surrounding area. Clean the lid and wipe away any residue that might be preventing it from closing properly.
2. Align the lid properly: Sometimes, the lid may not align properly with the machine, preventing it from closing. Take a close look at the lid and the corresponding opening on the machine. Ensure that the lid is positioned correctly and aligns with the opening. Try gently pressing down on different parts of the lid to see if it helps with alignment.
3. Apply gentle pressure: In some cases, the lid might require a bit of force to close properly. Apply gentle pressure to the lid while attempting to close it. Be careful not to use excessive force as it may damage the machine.
4. Consult the user manual: If you're still unable to close the lid, refer to the user manual provided with your Opal coffee machine. The manual might have specific instructions or troubleshooting tips for lid-related issues.
5. Contact customer support: If none of the above steps work, it's recommended to reach out to the customer support or the manufacturer of the Opal coffee machine. They should be able to provide further assistance and guide you through the troubleshooting process or offer a possible solution.
Remember to exercise caution and refer to the manufacturer's instructions before attempting any repairs or adjustments to your coffee machine.

Lid on my maytag bravo top load washer won't go into the latch to close

It sounds like you are having trouble getting the lid on your Maytag Bravo top-load washer to close properly, even after replacing the lid strike and the lid latch. There could be a few reasons for this issue:
  1. The lid strike and latch are not properly aligned: Make sure that the lid strike and latch are properly aligned and that the strike is lined up correctly with the latch.
  2. The lid strike is not adjusted correctly: The lid strike may need to be adjusted in order to properly engage the latch. Check the installation instructions for the strike to see if there are any adjustment instructions.
  3. The lid latch is in lock mode: Some Maytag Bravo top-load washers have a lock mode that prevents the lid from being opened during a wash cycle. Make sure that the latch is not in lock mode by checking the owner's manual for instructions on how to unlock the latch.
  4. The lid strike or latch are defective: If you've tried the above steps and the lid still won't close, the new strike or latch may be defective. It's recommended to contact the manufacturer for further assistance or to contact a professional technician for repair.
It's important to make sure that the lid is closed properly before starting a wash cycle to prevent water from leaking out of the washer.

Model ms-50-22, kitchen garbage can, lid don't always open and or close

If your kitchen garbage can with model number MS-50-22 is having trouble opening and closing the lid, there could be a problem with the lid mechanism or the hinges. Here are a few things you can try to fix the problem:
  1. Clean the lid mechanism and hinges to make sure they are not clogged with debris. Debris can interfere with the movement of the lid and cause it to stick or not close properly.
  2. Check the hinges to make sure they are not damaged or loose. If the hinges are damaged or not properly secured, it can cause the lid to stick or not close properly.
  3. Check the lid mechanism to make sure it is functioning properly. If the mechanism is damaged or not properly aligned, it can cause the lid to stick or not close properly.
  4. If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be necessary to have the garbage can inspected by a technician to determine the cause of the issue.
If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the problem yourself, it is recommended that you contact the manufacturer for assistance. They may be able to provide further guidance or offer repair options.

Theh trunk on my 2013 ford focus randomly pops open while driving on highways , what could the cause be and how can i fit it ?

The striker assembly may be out of adjustment. This is the metal piece that the trunk lock assembly grasps when the lid is closed. These strikers usually have bolts that can be loosened allowing the striker to move up and down to obtain proper adjustment so the trunk will open/close properly

Matsui PL700 lid won't close properly

no need to tighten the cap or whatever, that's the problem there is with the switch control, which must be touched when the lid closed. you just need to open the DVD case cover, then locate these switches, make sure the switch is still normal or not, if it is normal that you only need to give a little pad on the suppressor to the switch. suppressor usually exists on the DVD casing.

What does "lid open" mean on the lcd screen? If this happens, can't take picture.

This means either your battery lid is not properly closed. Or the camera lens lid is closed. If camera lens lid is closed you cant take any photo. there will be some knob like thing which you can use to open the lid.

Let me know if you need more help.
Thanks

Trunk lid pops open when Locking the Vehicle. Have to close it everytime i lock. This happened after an accident and replacing entire trunk lid.

I will do it in my own way since the wiring is messed up, and when i press close on my Remote, the trunk pops open. I will Harness this problem to benefit me since my remote does not have a trunklid switch. I will route the Motor (that has a piston) wire through the switch relay (located just above the vehicle ID plate area), so that opening the trunk lid is only possible when i keep pressing the trunk open swich (on the trunk lid) while at the same time pressing the close/LOCk button on my remote.
