Hp Business Inkjet 2800 printer prompted me to change the cyan printhead. I changed the cyan printhead and it is not detecting the new printhead. A printer repairman came to inspect the printer and said that it may be a defective printhead, and if not, then I should replace the printer because it would be an expensive issue to fix. So, I ordered a new cyan printhead in case the one I bought was defective, and installed it. However, the printer is still prompting me to install a cyan printhead. Please let me know if you know of any way that I can fix this issue.

Hi

Did you check the connections in the carriage if there is little amount of ink on the contacts? if not then clean it well with a dump cloth and try to re-install the old printhead it will sure accept it. If not then the other way is to change system date of the printer first and then try again.

Thanks this worked, although it still didn't show up until I cleaned it very thoroughly, both the print heads and the region on the printer where they are inserted. I also recommend you wear gloves.

On my HP Business Inkjet 1200 the black/magenta/yellow lights are flashing but not the cyan. Neither the printhead or ink cartridge light is lit. With 3 out of 4 lights lit what is the printer complaining...

You may be using non original ink catridges, the printer chip will not recognise so flashes as if needs replacing.if refills are original printer chip may need to be reset.

Asking to replace new printheads

is it laser or inkjet, and cartridges are original ones or compatible ones, some printers will not accept comptible cartridges.

I changed the print cartridge and now it won't print my documents

Most likely you left the tape on the new cartridges which protects the printhead. Remove the cartridges, pull the tape off and reinstall the cartridges. If the tape was already off, double check to make sure they are the right cartridges. Good luck!

Hp business inkjet 2800 will not print cyan although have replaced cartridge and run all onboard diagnostics. hp troubleshoot shows no problem yet printer will not print

You say you replaced the cartridge but did you replace the print head. If you fully lift the cartridge cover you will see a row of print heads. The Cyan print head is C4811A. Try replacing this.

or

If you feel lucky you can run the print head cleaner diagnostics. The print head may simply be dirty or clogged.

PRINTING ERROR

It sounds like the printheads are dirty or you have a leaking cartridge. Take the printheads out and clean them with a damp cloth. Just in case you haven't done it yet, do the printhead cleaning procedure. Also try temporarily lowering the print quality and see if the symptom changes.

Printerhead need replacing

Printheads are very sensitive and HP sets a "Time" limit of about two years for # 11 printheads regardless of how much you print. ( This is bunk from HP of course!.) But the prinheads do not expire!! They just show their health and that the printhead has exceeded the warraty period ( regardless of how much you print) .

Remove the printheads from their socket and fill a 8- 12" dish with 1/4" high of warm water. Set the printheads in the water in the same position they are set in the printer (vertical) You may need to place a wooden spoon of a block behind the printheads to keep the heads in position, as they will tilt backwards.
Leave the printheads to soak for about 15minutes.
Remove the printheads and slightly press them on a folded kitchen paper towel .It should show two lines of the same color of the printhead (cyan, yellow, etc) If the two lines are not of the same length (about 1/2" long) then repeat the soaking for that color. Be sure to dry the printheads properly

Install the printheads in the printer socket vertically so the contacts are properly set.. If not you may get a message to "Install (color) printhead". reset it again and run at least 15 pages with color information. It should print ok!!
If any print heads is damaged then the only option is to replace it with a new one.
It may be that the ink line from the cartridge to the printhead is clogged and ink is not flowing. This may require to run a large print job of about 50 or so pages to force ink into the clean printheads.

The terminal strip behind the printhead that makes contact with the pins in the printer are very delicate and if removed two to three times may not make a good contact and render the printhead unuseable.

Good Luck!!

Printer problems

Sounds like one or more of your printheads is worn out. They are designed to be user replaceable, and wear out after a certain amount of usage.

Black is obvious, but if the lines are purplish, your yellow head is bad. If they're greenish, your magenta head is bad. If they're reddish, your cyan head is bad.

Vertical lines are very unusual. Can you scan a printout and post it somewhere that we can look at it?
