Your Poulan should have a green button on the side of it. Push and hold it. While most models have a green button, your may not. In that case, obtain the model number off the weedeater, go to Poulan.com/customer service and download the manual for your machine
All internal combustion engines use oil of some description. I take it this is a 2 cycle engine and you have not added oil to the gas. If this is the case the engine is locked up, and must be replaced. Sorry.
Try a now spark plug first. If it is still hard to start then it is probably because of low compression due to worn rings and these need to be replaced.
