My 5400 no longer connects to the internet. The internet light is out. The router is working on my intranet okay. When I try to connect, I am asked to submit a UID & pwrd. Using the same ones I have always used. I have 2 servers and a PC connected directly to the modem and a wireless PC. None work. I have swapped out ALL cables. I had qwest check the line and I checked at the line-in port (normal). Wassup? The ISP tells me to buy a new router!

SOURCE: configure WRT300N wireless Router to connect internet using PPPoE

Often the nets and subnets are NOT the same.. ie The Fixed connection often uses 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, however sometimes the wifi is setup 10.1.1.1, or 10.0.0.1 etc, have you checked this? Esentially tho ya router is an "Acess Point" and ya Lappy etc is ya "Client" the links below has a lot of tutorials to help have a look. http://portforward.com/routers.htm http://portforward.com/guides.htm

SOURCE: Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
Router IP Address - 192.168.2.1

DCHP - ON, Addresses - 192.168.2.100 and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router - 192.168.2.1, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

ALTERNATIVE,

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.

If you still have problems, please contact me at 906-495-1707 or via Yahoo IM [email protected] or through this website.

SOURCE: Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

Westel 327W no longer accessing VPN

It sounds like your company has changed some settings for access into thier local intranet. Your IT guy will have to figure out what's wrong, becuase he would be the one with the knowledge of your companies settings. Perhaps they changed the shared-key, or something in the security settings.

Another note: If you have recently changed/upgraded any installations of firewalls or internet security software, check to make sure it's not blocking any of the IP address or ports you need open to access your company network.

    Blitzz Router

Ah, you can no longer use the modem or the Blitzz screen to connect to your Internet connection. You'll need to patch another Ethernet cord from the router to your Ethernet port on your computer and it should automatically connect. If you still get prompted to dial, open up Internet Explorer and ignore any prompts to dial and then click Tools, then Internet Options, then click the Connections tab at the top, then click the selection to Never Dial a Connection. Confirm your choice by clicking OK and then try browsing the Internet like usual.
