SOURCE: delayed brewing
The problem is in the sensor that tells the coffee maker when the brew cycle is complete. This is a heat sensor that's clipped to the heating element. The sensor gets overly sensitive and shuts things off too soon. Since schematics and parts aren't available for this unit, it's pretty much junk after it starts to fail. You can remove the sensor, but this creates a major fire hazard. My advice is to pick up a good percolator and forget the drip units. The Grind-N-Brew makes excellent coffee, but they barely last out the warranty and the cost of replacing them mounts up. I've gone through two (same problem with both) and it's no longer worth it to me.

Make sure the lid is on the carafe.
Make sure you are not using a paper filter and a gold tone filter at the same time.
Make sure the carafe lid is down all the way and that the center knob of the carafe lid is making contact with the spring at the bottom of the filter basket.
If the above conditions have been met, then decalcify your coffeemaker by running 1/3 carafe worth of vinegar and 2/3 carafe worth of water through your coffeemaker - use the self-clean button to do this - will take about 35 minutes.
SOURCE: water will not drop to make coffee....
I your plate is not heating, no water will flow. This seems to be a common problem with this rig. So far, I've helped 13 people on this site with exactly the same problem ... all the lights are on, but no heating on the plate and no dripping water.
After a weekend on the workbench, I've mastered this machine. The KM7000 has 2 x MicroTemp G4 thermal cutoff (TCO) fuses which interrupt the Live line, for overheat protection. Mine didn't overheat per se, but the TCO blew anyway. Not reset-able ... need to be replaced with a soldering iron. I'll be happy to advise you to fix this, or fix it for you.
