Whirlpool Ice Makers are about the hardest working part on your refrigerator and their average life is about five years. You can fill the tray with tap water if the ice slots are already empty and let the water freeze. If after the water freezes and the ice drops to ice bin then the water control valve.

Click Here=> 4389177 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced. You mentioned the water is filling the tray OK then my focus would be on the ice maker.

Not making ice, checked optics ,good ,water valve coil tested good, no restrictionsbut i get no water in tray, also freezer temp is 8 degrees.

OK you mentioned the ice maker had no cubes or not making cubes, try filling tray with water from tap. Let freeze and if the ice drops into ice bin the ice maker is OK. Most times the ice maker thermostat is at fault (pt. 27 in photo) if not cycling. Read OHM's between both coils and they should be very near to same reading, if not replace water control valve=> 4389177 by applying first 120VAC to see if valve opens. If water goes into ice maker this way or OHMs between the two are nearly the same your Ice Maker=>2198597 Ice Maker Assembly may need replaced. Stopped making ice

Hi reach up inside the tray where the ice is made and check to see if you feel any ice. If you feel ice the ice maker is bad. If you feel no ice and the tray is empty then your problem is either with the water line being blocked with ice or the inlet valve is bad. Pull the ice maker line out of the valve and blow into it, if you can blow air through the line then the valve is bad. If you can't blow air into the line then it's blocked with ice. Locate the ice blockage and thaw it with a hairdryer. Mike

Water going to ice maker

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It’s on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Kenmore by Whirlpool sxs water in the door. Ice maker 106.565424

The water control valve for the ice maker side is your most likely reason. If filling ice maker with tap water and allowing to freeze. If it dumps then the water control should fill. if not the valve is not working. Sea Breeze

Auto Ice maker in Whirlpool fridge, not producing ice. I suspect the water feed line might be frozen since it was working fine two days ago. I haven't heard the water fill and the tray is empty.

Ice Maker Overfills With Water

Ice maker has adjustment on right side of power head. If ice maker is inside on upper left, you can remove white cover from it and the adjusting screw in on right. Turning counter-clockwise will decrease fill by 1/2 to 3/4 of ounce. Sounds like a small amount, but ice make only uses 4 ounces per fill. If this does not fix, try replacing fill valve. If ice maker ice bin is in the freezer door, you have to remove cover to ice maker in the top of freezer. Ice maker is screwed into top of freezer and need to be removed to take off cover to adjuster screw. same procedure for reducing water flow time as above.

Brand new ice maker, water fill to tray will not shut off

The new ice maker should tell the dual water valve on rear of refrigerator to turn on if the tray makes a complete cycle. So the new ice maker is defective or the water valve on back is stuck open that leads up to the ice maker. Unplug the wires to the water control valve on back of the refrigerator and then turn the ice maker on. If the water continues to flow I recommend replacing the water valve. If the water stops coming to the ice maker I recommend returning the new ice maker. You only need to unplug the side of the water control valve leading to the ice make. I also recommend a pre-filter for the incoming water before the water control valve. Makes the water and ice better and keeps trash from damaging the water control valve. Let me know your results or if you need more assistance, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557
