Put in new batteries and clean lens and calibrate if it has that function. If that doesn't work, Type the " Leica Disto A6 Laser Distance Meter user manual" and it will bring up sites to manual.

SOURCE: getting error code 279 on my Disto Classic 5a

can not measure distance.
each time the button is pressed dist, 279 error appears.
