I have a Sony DVD/CD Rewritable drive that tries to eject but doesn't. It is model # DW-D22A. Is this a problem I might be able to fix or would I be better off getting a new drive?

Dont buy new One. Try to fix it first.
Sometimes the problem why it doesn't open is a dried rubber band connected to the eject.
heres a tutorial on how to change the rubber band.

It may have a jam, there is a small pin hole under the tray usually on the right side.. straighten out a paper click and press it in there with some force. This is the manual eject. See if it resumes normal operation after that.

I have a dell inspiron 6000 and the sony dvd/cd rewritable drive model DW-D56A does not load cd or dvd when inserted but it does light up and eject when pressed in my computor

Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install.

Hi, I have SONY DVD/CD rewritable drive unit, Model No. DW-Q28A. CD or VCD working but DVD not able to work .

The drive is compatible with the following DVD Disc:

WRITE SpeedDVD+R DVD+RW DVD-R DVD-RWDVD+R DL

DVD-R DL

If you are unable to burn using those disc then the burner is defective.

If you want to watch a dvd then you would need to purchase or download a program to watch the DVD movies.

This drive reads a dvd but not cds. do you have

may be it's only a DVD ROM drive not a combo,
you will need a combo to read both DVD and CD
if it was reading CDs earlier then the CDs might have scratch in them, try with new CD.
did u make changes to the cables inside, if you did check if the cabels are connected properly to the drive

Tray drive idler gear stripped

I have not been very successful i rebuilding these dvd drives and to tell you the truth it is no longer financially feasable considering I can order a Samsung Multi-format cd/dvd drive for around 25 dollars on E-Bay. You can always just pull the tray out and push it in, but eventually down the line that will start causing problems. Depending on your system, replacing or upgrading the Optical drive is one of the easiest upgrades you can do.
