Typically removing the jumper at the rest potition disconnects the battery. Nevertheless it's advisable to remove the batery and wait some seconds before reconect it.

Invalid cmos settings

Hi

Thank you for your query

The Bios can be cleared in 2 ways

1) As you have mentioned above, the battery can be taken out but it should be left out for at least 10 - 15 minutes

2) If this fails you can do a 2 pin short, please look in the motherboard manual, it will tell you where to find this component, all you need to do is to move the jumper from the 2 pins it is sitting on to anohter 2 pins behind it, leave for 2 seconds and then put it back (ensure there is NO power going to the motherboard when this is done)

Both of the above will clear BIOS

I hope this has been helpful

After i put a pentium 4 processor in I don't know how to get the computer to recognize it in bios screen. IU know how to get to screen and go to cmos. But after that i don't have a clue. Every time in try...

Hi,

Try clearing the CMOS.
To do this remove the motherboard battery and remove the power cord from the back of the machine for 10 minutes or longer, periodically pushing the on/off button (this clears any residual power).

After 10 minutes or so put the battery back in and turn on the computer, go back into the BIOS and set the time and date.

You won't see the processor in the BIOS, it usually shows on the first post screen.

Regards.

Checksum error

Hi Oliver, the most common error related to the message,
(Bios Rom Checksum Error). Someone has left a floppy disk in the floppy drive. Once the floppy disk has been removed press the reset button on the PC, your windows will start normally. Next place to look is in your bios.
Open your manual to page 27.
Enter your bios & go to the title Advanced BIOS Features. Check First, Second & Third boot devices they should be as follows. Floppy disk drive, CD-ROM drive & primary hard disk drive. If both of the above are ok than try clearing the cmos/bios by resetting the cmos jumper (JP1) location on page 5. Descriptions of page five on page 6. CMOS settings on page 9.
When your system restarts re-enter your cmos & reset up your bios settings. Lastly if none of the above has fixed the error message, than remove the cmos battery & check its voltage. It should maintain 3volts. If yours' is lower than 3volts replace the cmos battery. There is one other possible fix. It’s an option not given lightly. Flashing a cmos/bios is not recommended unless all other options have failed.
