Check that the return air duct near the bottom of the fridge is not blocked. The air may be going into the fridge but cant get out. It has to complete a cycle where it gets drawn back into the freezer to get cold and then gets blown back into the food compartment. The baffle controls how much or how little cold air goes in. You may have to take the rear panel off the inside of the freezer, there may an ice buildup in there.
don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.
If " new " is less than 1 year , you will need to call GE factory service , for a warranty repair . If any one else works on it , this will void your complete warranty , and they will charge you for a service call + parts + labor .
could be a few issues, id open teh freezerdoor at looka t back panel id tere frost building up??? if so youhave a defrost issue, can you here the fan in freezer conmpartment spinning you may have a bad evap fan
sounds like the evaporator fan in the freezer is not moving the air. also there is an air damper door at the top center of the fridge that controls air flow from the freezer to the fridge. check those two components and you will find your problem.
