Thanks for visiting FixYa!

There are several security codes used on cell phones. I'll try to define each:

1) Limited access code: This is a pre-set code that limits the phone's use to dialing or receiving only pre-programmed numbers. For example, an employer gives a company phone to a delivery guy which will only make calls to -and receive calls from - the office.

2) Security codes:

a) Software security unlock code: Most phones are locked to accept only apps (software) from approved venders. This code is used to unlock the phone so it will download and install third-party applications.

b) User Security Codes (or Blocking codes) : This code unlocks the phone so it can be used to make and receive calls. Without this code the phone is 'blocked' from making or receiving calls.

PUC Code: This code is required when a security code (or block code) has been entered incorrectly too many times. (For example: Someone finds a lost phone which has requires a security code to use the phone, and attempts to guess the code several times.) Once this happens, the phone becomes locked to where the security code can no longer be guessed. A PUC code must now be entered. And, the only way to obtain the PUC Code is directly from the cell phone company that provides service to the phone. (A PUC Code is sometimes referred to as a Master Unlock Code.) Without it, the phone can never make calls again. Attempting to guess the PUC code 10 times can/will damage the phone and the SIM card if the phone has one.

SIM Unlock: Sim Unlock, or Network Unlock is a code which when entered on the phone allows the phone to be used with different cell phone companies.

Hello,

PUK simply means Personal Unblocking Key. PUK is meant for the sim card and not the phone. If your sim cad is locked and require you to enter an unblocking code, it is the PUK code it is requesting for.

But if the phone is what is being locked, it is the phones unblocking code it is requesting for, which mainly is a security code meant for your phone.

Hope this helped.
Goodluck

PIN and PUK

Hello,

I have seen a lot of posts here about unblocking a PIN and PUK code.
Hopefully this tip will help Fixya users who experience this problem, at one point in time.

First of all, the PIN and PUK codes are not phone codes, they are SIM card codes.
The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a code that restricts access to your phone, through the SIM card.
If you insert a SIM card that has no PIN restriction, you will not be asked for the PIN code.
When you enter the wrong PIN more than five times, it will get blocked, and ask you for the PUK code.

The PUK (Personal Unblocking Code) is used to unblock a blocked PIN.
If your PIN is blocked, use your PUK to unblock it.

Tip:

The PIN and PUK being SIM card codes, no one else can provide them to you, not even your phone manufacturer, except your network service provider.
If you dont have your PIN and PUK, call your network service provider customer care and they will provide you with both the PIN and PUK codes, for free.

I hope this tip will help you in case your PIN gets blocked.

Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth.

Unblock a sim without PUK

A Personal Unblocking Key (PUK Code) is a unique number that's used to unlock the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM Card) for your phone. The SIM Card contains all the account details your phone needs to make and receive calls---including generated passwords (PIN Codes.) If you forget or loose that password, you can use the PUK Code to unlock the SIM Card. You will be prompted for the PUK Code if you enter the PIN Code incorrectly three times on your phone. You can get your PUK Code from your carrier. it is not possible to unblock the sim without your puk.

My phone is blocked because my puk code was incorrect eveytime i tried to unlock it. now my phone wont work.

Instructions
  1. Request that your service provider unblock your phone, which it may do at no charge. Read your cell contract, if you have one, and search for verbiage related to unblocking or removing a carrier block. Pay specific attention to any suspensions or fines that can be leveled if your phone is unblocked.
  2. Identify the PIN unblock key, or PUK, code. The PUK is a unique number that unblocks your phone. Retrieve it from your service provider or any reputable unblocking service. Input the PUK into your phone. Directions for unblocking will appear on your display panel.
  3. Buy software that will unblock your cell phone. Use a reputable site. The software can be downloaded directly to your phone using a USB cable.
  4. Hire a company to unblock your cell phone for a fee. Choose one that can perform the software download and provide you with your PUK code.

How to unblock puk

Hello,

If your phone comes up with a display requesting for the PUK code, then it means your sim card is already locked and you need to type your unblocking code to get it opened.

The PUK means personal unblocking key. It is found inside the sim pack on the sim carrier where you broke out your sim card from. There are some numbers on it, Your mobile number, your pin code your PUK code which mostly used to be 8 digits and your bar code at the bottom of the sim carrier.

Enter the 8 digit code that is on the sim card carrier, that is your PUK code, then you enter a new password, then it will prompt you to re-enter it, then your sim will be unblocked. Be sure to enter a code that you will find easy to remember, if not the sim will be blocked again and you will be requiring the PUK code to unblock it.

If you do not have the Sim carrier, then you have to contact the service providers customer care so they will give it to you.

Take care and good luck

No puk code

PUKs, or personal unblocking keys, are used to unblock a mobile phone which becomes blocked. Mobile phones may become blocked when a PIN (personal identification number) is entered incorrectly on three consecutive occasions. In some instances, the phone may become blocked, which requires a PUK to unblock it, and in other instances, the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card itself becomes blocked and again will require a PUK to unblock it.Mobile phones are also blocked when they are reported stolen and if there is an outstanding payment on the account. It is important to differentiate between unblocking phones (using a PUK) and unlocking mobile phones (using another type of code). NOTE: It is a criminal offence for anyone to attempt to unblock a mobile phone, other than the network provider who put the block on the phone. If your phone has become blocked by mistake, for example you have entered the PIN incorrectly on three consecutive occasions, then you need to contact the mobile phone network operator with your details. To explain a little more, specific to your mobile phone network, You need to go to your Service providers, web site & navigate your way to the specific PUK details for your mobile phone network operator. Usually you have to Register your phone to get a PUK code.
