The batteries probably need to be replaced. Be sure that any batteries seat properly and tightly. You may have to tape the battery door shut with strong tape to keep the contact tight. This type of damage is expensive to repair compared to the cost of the cameras. You can take it in and have it looked at, but be sure to get an estimate and then you can make an educated decision on whether to repair or replace it.

Best wishes to you and Thank you for using Fix Ya!

My camera does not turn on with the battery in it. When it does turn on it stays on for less than a minute. I have already replaced the battery twice.

Welcome to FixYa.

Two reasons why the camera automatically switch off.

1. The battery is exhausted
- try to insert fully charged battery or replaced a new fully charged battery.
2. The camera stopped due to malfunction.
- removed/ re-insert battery and switch the camera on.

My battery is fully charged but when i turn the camera on it shuts right back off

SOunds like your battery is bad. try discharing it :
  1. Place the battery in your camera until it itself turns off. In this situation, the battery is fully discharged.
  2. Take out your battery and slide it into your battery charger.
  3. Connect your charger with power to fully charge the battery. It is normal for a new battery that battery indicator shows 100% capacity in 10 to 15 minutes. Please keep charging until there is no time left for charging.
  4. Fully charged and fully discharged or "cycled" as much as five times to condition them into performing at full capacity.
Try it and see if it works? If the batteries are not rechargeable then the problem is in the cameras power supply and you need to take it in or replace it.

Camera will not power on or off and battery is fully charged

The symptoms you describe sound very much like a failing battery. How old is your battery? Rechargeable batteries are only meant to last for a couple years, regardless of use.

Not turning on

Hi -

We have two of these cameras. If it has been dropped, it can affect the way the camera "reads" the case sliding. Please turn the camera over and check on the bottom, and see where the cover is sliding to. If it is off track, it will not read it properly.

Also, rechargable batteries don't really work in this model worth a hoot. It is a power user. We've found only ONE kind of batteries that really make this camera work smoothly - the energizer "e" batteries in the silver and BLUE packaging. I take a LOT of pictures, and have had these last up to a month. (I am always curious about battery life and date them with a sharpie when I put them in.) Even after they no longer power the camera, they have plenty of oomph left for powering other regular items. (Our hair trimmers have been running for two months on AA taken out of the camera.)

Also, please close the slider a couple times and reopen it, making sure it is going all the way over. It doesn't always lock into place, and the camera mis-reads it as still being closed. It is a pain in the rump, and something I hope subsequent models get a modification on!

Also, simple, but double-check your batteries, and be sure they are not inserted backwards. Oftentimes, this is the reason ours won't turn on - in haste, we've put one or both in the wrong direction! Ha!

Hope that is the only problem for you.
