SOURCE: Sony Walkman NWZ-S615F problem detecting and syncronizing
I had the same problem. One day my Mp3 started acting weird and said it was not recognizing the files and that i needed to re download them. Try plugging it up to your computer while its charging and hit the power off. Then reset your mp3 with the button at the bottom and it should recognize it.

What is the operating system ofy our computer? If running XP, it will use the built in driver of XP so you just need to install this device automatically

If you have XP SP3 installed , you might face this problem.
Go to the Device manage. Click on the update driver of the sony walkman device driver. When the dialog box appears select, choose install from a specific location, then click next. Then in the next part of the wizard, select don't search, i will choose the driver to install and click next. then choose from the portable driver, select USB root hub. Click next and finish. You are done and enjoy the data transfer and music.

Hi konektor1,
Is it on hold? Check that first. If that is okay, and you still have it within the warranty period, get it checked for battery problems.
