I have an Akai HD projection TV that won't turn on when pressing the power. You can hear that it is turning on, but the screen remains black as if it is off. My son told me earlier that when watching tv and turning if off later, that the screen went from red, to pink, to blue, then green and turned off. Need your assistance in figuring out what the problem is.

Sounds like a regulator problem, possibly the low voltage side of the regulator. Could be the the regulator itself has shorted which in this unit is a STRF6628. If you're trying to attempt repairs yourself take a look at C834 100uf/25v next to the regulator and see if it's possibly open. If so replace it and see if the unit will power-up and let me know..

Hello!
Please try to unplug the power outlet to reset the setting automatically. and change the image setting of the TV. However, if this donot work. the projection of the TV maybe cause damage. On that case the error maybe in either in the horizontal or vertical setting of the tv. In this case you need a service tech to check the circuit inside. this needs a series of testing each parts of the TV. If the TV is less than a year then you can claim a warranty howver if this more than one year, service tech im sure it level on very reasonable cost same very cheap labor cost.
may this help, melnavz

My recommendation is to call a local svc co. Since you heard a pop, it could be anywhere in the set. It requires trouble shooting to isolate where the problem is. I hope this is help-full for you.
