Call Microsoft and send it back or go to www.llama.com to get the parts and instructions to fix it yourself.

  • Anonymous Aug 27, 2008

What else did you want to hear? That the machine will magicly fix it's self in exactly 3 days 2 hours 28 min and 4 sec????

MS knows they scred up and have a 3 year warranty on these. As long as the warranty seal is not broken, you can have it replaced for free!!!!

3 flashing lights is usually a general hardware failure, however heres a lot more information that should help diagnose the problem

THINGS TO TRY
1. Try restarting the console.
2. If restarting the console does not resolve the behavior, follow these steps:
o Turn the console off.
o Unplug all the power and AV cables from the console.
o Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
o Firmly reconnect all the cables.
o Turn on the console.
3. If these steps do not resolve the behavior, turn the console off, remove the hard drive, and then turn on
the console. If the 3x Red LED error light is no longer displayed, turn the console off, re-attach the hard
drive, and then turn on the console.
4. Also examine the lights on the power supply. When you turn on the console, the power supply light
should illuminate green even if the three lights on the RoL flash red.

The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
• Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
• Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
• The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
• Release the eject button and press it again.
• The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
• Release the eject button and press it again.
• The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
• Release the eject button and press it again.
• The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
• Release the eject button and press it again.
• The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in
which they flash.
Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:
• All four lights flashing - 0
• One light flashing - 1
• Two Lights flashing - 2
• Three lights flashing - 3

SOURCE: The xbox 360 red light flash

turn it on and wrap it with 2 towels for 20 minutes(the idea is to overheat it), then unrap the towels and let it cool down for 20 minutes. Then, walla it works.

SOURCE: xbox 360 red lights power supply light stays yellow

you have to disconnect and reconnect the power cables to the 360. Orange/yellow light means that your power supply is on a standby mode and the 360 is not getting enough power/electricity inside

Red Ring of Death: Red Flashing XBOX 360 Lights Explained Common Xbox 360 Red Ring Errors The XBOX has a reported 54.2% failure rate which makes the XBOX 360 gaming consoles' worst "lemon" to date. If you find yourself with the red flashing lights error, --> lg.php?category_id=15&content_type=article&content_type_id=2663399&key_page=682482001924178892&site_id=1&bannerid=11791&campaignid=3153&zoneid=23&loc=1&referer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.associatedcontent.com%2farticle%2f2663399%2fred_ring_of_death_red_flashing_xbox.html%3fcontent_type%3darticle%26content_type_id%3d2663399&cb=8da55f49a0 follow this guide to try and pinpoint the problem with your XBOX 360.

1 Red Ring = Serious Hardware Failure
I f your XBOX 360 has a 1 red flashing light error, you're more than likely in big trouble. The 1 flashing red ring of light can be due to GPU or CPU failure, RAM overheating, a DVD drive error, or some serious problem with your Xbox 360's internal components. The most common 1 flashing red ring lights error is the E74 error. The E74 error is no easy fix for the Xbox 360 and usually has to be repaired by the manufacturer [though some have managed to repair it with the heat gun trick - but be careful]

2 Red Rings = Overheating
Mostly all red flashing lights on the Xbox 360 rings are due to overheating in some way or other, but the 2 red rings singles out overheating as the main issue. When doing the X-Clamp fix the 2 red rings are required to fix the Xbox 360 by overheating the CPU. If you get this Xbox 360 error without doing the X-Clamp fix, you probably just need to let your Xbox 360 cool down for a few hours. Make sure that all vents aren't blocked off and that your Xbox fans are working properly in order to repair this problem.

3 Red Rings = Basic Hardware Failure
The most common error on the Xbox 360 is the 3 red rings - also known as the Red Rings of Death (RRoD). This flashing lights problem is the main cause of Xbox 360's 54.2% failure rate. The 3 red flashing lights can be due to lots of different errors but is mainly due to the X-Clamps in your Xbox 360 and overheating. Fortunately, lots of people were able to fix this issue using the X-Clamp and heat gun fix. Follow this list of error codes to find out the real issue with the 3 red rings because there are quite a few of them.

Red ring of death

HI, this is a AV cable fault. it is unable to be detected. follow the procedures below to correct this issue. of the procedure dose not produce results, this will confirm that the damage is severe, and you will need to contact Microsoft for a repair ticket.

Check Points

1. Make sure that the AV cable is correctly connected to the Xbox 360 console.
2. Disconnect the AV cable from the Xbox 360 console, and then reconnect the AV cable to the Xbox 360 console.
3. If the four flashing red lights continue to flash, try wiping the metal area of the AV pack with a dry cloth. The metal area is the end that plugs into the console. Wipe the metal area thoroughly, and then try the AV Pack again.
4. If the AV cable is correctly connected but the four red lights are still flashing, substitute a different AV cable if you have one available.
