Targus mouse not working

I checked the Targus website (http://www.targus.com/us/default.asp) for any other useful information. Use the "support" option at the website for a good troubleshooting guide for your particular mouse. Is this a new mouse? The mouse you have uses the native windows drivers and should be auto-recognized by XP. Have you kept your XP updates current? My concern is why XP could not install the software drivers needed(You would have gotten some type of an error message). Check the "details" link shown with the error message. That should point you in the right direction---rick

Targus usb optical mouse not recognized by windows

Hi there!

The Targus WIreless Mouse with Power management is supported by Windows and does not require additional drivers. To confirm that Windows has loaded the drivers:

Click Start>Right-click My Computer>Select Manage

Select Device Manager

Expand the Human Interface Devices section.

You should see an entry for USB Human Interface Device. If you don't see an entry, right-click on the Human Interface Devices entry and select Scan for hardware changes.

If you don't see any results, look for any yellow question marks or exclamation marks underneath the Unknown Devices category. You may find the mouse listed there. If so, right-click on it and select "Update Driver". Select "Yes, this time only", then click Next, leave the default selection as is and click Next. If the update fails, try again except this time, after the first "Next", select the advanced option, "Install from a list or a specific location", then click Next.

Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install".

If a default selection appears on the screen that follows, click Next and it should install. If successful, I recommend you restart your machine for any changes to take effect. If the installation isn't successful, you may need to submit a ticket on Targus' support site.

I hope this helps you! If you have any questions, feel free to reply.

Targus mouse not recognized

What is the OS of your computer? This Targus mouse would work with Win 98, Win 2000 and Win XP. Vista was not mentioned. And if you are running Windows Vista for you laptop, then that could be the reason why it was not recognized by the computer.

Is this the wireless optical mouse? If yes, you need to follow the steps below to isolate the problem:

1. Connect the USB receiver into different USB ports of the computer.
2. Replace the batteries with the fresh ones.
3. Try connecting the mouse into different computer to see if you've got a defective mouse.

If you've tried everything and got the same problem, you may need to refer to the manufacturer, because I'm not sure if this mouse is a Plug-n-Play device or if it needs a driver.

Have a great day!

How to set up and use targus wireless computer mouse model#amw26

Under the mouse there should be a usb stick attached to the mouse which most likely should slide out from the mouse. It also appears that the plastic cover behind the two buttons (this cover has targus written on it) Should come off. After you remove the usb stick there might be a button somewhere on the bottom of the mouse that you should be able to press to get the battery cover to pop up. Then you should be able to pull up on the battery cover and remove it from the mouse. This mouse takes two AA batteries. Once the batteries are installed then plug the usb stick into any of the usb ports on the computer. The computer should recognize the drivers for this mouse (if you are using Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Mac OS X [or higher]). If the drivers are not immediately recognized then restart your computer and the computer should then recognize the mouse. If this still does not happen then let me know. Also there is software that can be downloaded from the Targus website for the tilt wheel as it has some added capabilities that can be set using this software. The link for that software is here ------> http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=AMW26US

I hope this helps, and enjoy that mouse, it looks pretty nice!
