I own an 80GB PS3 currently. I've been tight on hard disk space so I decided to purchase a 500GB Hitachi internal hardrive. I re-installed the new firmware updates along with trophies, PSN games, and restored some save files. Decided to give Gran Turismo 5 a shot, I love racing on that game. Installed it okay (version 1.10), but every time I try to play, it takes an absurd amount of time to load. My game consistently becomes stuck on the Gran Turismo 5 opening loading screen which states the Gran Turismo 5 online terms of service. I would like to know what might be the cause of this lagged loading. Whether it is just extremely high traffic on servers, a faulty internal hardrive that I'm using, or maybe an installation problem with the game. Thank you for your time.

I think its better you check your re-installed updates,games etc......Try removing some unwanted files and increase the disk space.....also this problem arise when your newly installed drive is not compatible with your software.....

    Thanks, I'm starting to think it's incompatible.. but, every other game seemingly works okay with this new hardrive. I've also heard about firmware 3.65 or 3.66 actually slowing down and freezing games. I just really want a solution to this problem so I can go back to enjoying my favorite game on the PS3.

Hi,try to use other usb cable,and insert it also to other usb port of your computer.But if its still not working..go to my computer right click..see the manage,..see the disk management..there you found your hard disk but if doesnt appear on it..it means that your har disk was dead or defective already..thanks

Full format the harddrive with disk manager tool .Remove all partition recreate 5 to 6 times untill you are able to install windows.then reinstall windows sometimes virus problem corrupt the mbr record so if you recreate the partition it will work again.

The maximum is 500GB. For compatibility reasons you should get a 320GB one.

Once the drive is connected to your current PC, inser your UBUNTU disk, as you go through the installation procedure it will scan available drives and ask you whether you want to automatically install or manually install to a drive of your choice.

You have to select the latter and install to your external HDD. If you choose the auto option you could wipe your internal HDD and the operating system ............. be careful.

Hi Eric,

First you will need to connect the hard drive to your computer or a friends, either using a hard drive enclosure or cable

Then you need to format the drive into fat32 format (full format recommended , not quick format)

Then put it back into your ps3 and have a usb flash drive with the latest ps3 software loaded

then you will be able to format the drive and load the ps3 os

Hard disk Recognition problem
U are actually facing the same problem as "jackwilkinso". As my previous post: Windows XP does not come out to support SATA hard drive, because inside do not inclued the SATA driver, that why u cannot see the harddisk during the setup. What u can do is try to install the SATA supported OS like Windows Vista or Windows 7, or maybe can "forcely" put in the SATA driver in ur Windows XP setup CD.
