The cause and solution may include one of the following: There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer.See the USB.html file on the EasyShare software CD. The camera is off. Turn on the camera. The battery is not charged. Recharge the battery. Some Advanced Power Management utilities on laptops turn off ports to save battery life. See the power management section of the laptop User's Guide to disable this feature. The USB cable is not securely connected. Connect the cable from the camera to the computer port. The software is not installed. Install the software. The software is installed incorrectly. Do the following to install the software correctly: Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open programs. Uninstall, then reinstall the software. (To uninstall, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs.) Too many programs are running on the computer. Do the following to close all running programs: Disconnect the camera from the computer. Close all software programs. Reconnect the camera. The Battery Monitor or similar software runs constantly. Close the software before starting Kodak EasyShare software.

Alright so i wanted to know if i can charge my Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z700 Digital Camera without the actual charger but just plug it into my computer and it'll charger that way. i've tried this...

No. You need to plug the camera into the cradle and plug the cradle into a wall outlet. Connecting the camera to the computer merely drains the battery faster, as the camera has to spend juice communicating (or trying to communicate) with the computer, even if only to say it has nothing to say.

Make sure the camera is on and pc is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. This is normal processing. The camera screen should shut off as the computer is now taking over to transfer the data from the memory card to the computer.

"Camera not connected." -- Serial connection

The "Camera not connected" error message indicates a communications problem in the serial port connection between the camera and the computer. Simply put, the computer cannot find the camera it is being asked to connect with. Whenever an external device (digital camera, scanner, Palm Pilot, etc.) is connected to a computer through its serial port, a communications error is possible. There is usually no single "most likely" reason for the conflict -- it could be a hardware issue as easily as it could be a software issue.

Fun! Digital 320: "Camera not connected." -- Serial connection

Fortunately, the most common causes of this error message are also the most easily rectified: 1.Make sure that the camera power is on. 2.Make sure that the camera cable has not been damaged. 3.Make sure that the camera cable is properly connected to both the camera and the computer. 4.Clean out the computer's Temp file.

I am getting communication errors. Error Message appears in the display "Your camera or PC is not ready." (Fuji DS, DX and MX digital cameras only)

Most of the time the problem is due to the serial port setting of your PC. Please follow instructions below. Cause Camera is not communicating to your PC. Remedy Please check the following. 1. Cable connection. 2. Camera is ON and in PC mode. 3. Camera's batteries are not exhausted. 4. Go to Communication setting from "Camera" and make sure proper COM port is selected. 5. If your PC has external input device, disable its driver such as "Hot Sync" or similar drivers. 6. If your PC supports PS2 mouse, please use it instead of serial mouse. Then one serial port is available for the Digital camera. 7. Check in the BIOS Setup Screen to make sure the serial port of the PC is not disabled. Also, if your personal computer is equipped with an internal modem or infrared port, it may cause conflicts with port assignments internally that will not allow communication with your camera and PC. In such case, it is necessary to change the COM port setting for serial port. For details, see the User's Manual for your personal computer, or ask at the store where you purchased your personal computer
