I have an Elna model 6005 Heirloom Edition and I am having trouble making buttonholes. The manual was misplaced in my recent move. I would appreciate knowing the steps to take. I have foot R on and have chosen Mode 1 #11. The BH lever is down and resting against the foot.

I believe this model is a sewing machine not embroidery. Elna 6005 Heirloom Edition. "Expressive" Line is Embroidery/Sewing. Expressive 860 through 960.

Apparently this Elna model has automatic tension settings. May be something you need to have a professional technician address.

Consult your owner's manual in the maintenance section. Your machine is computerized and as such probably requires little oiling, possibly none. Do NOT oil unless you follow the manufacturer's instructions and use only oil that the manufacturer recommends.

Are you sure the feed dogs are faulty, its more likely that they are full of fluff or need resetting if they are moving too low. Is your needle plate correctly installed too, if it is sitting up a bit high it will mean the feed dogs arent coming through the holes at the correct height.

I did buy a machine like this recently, owner said it did'nt sew. The needle plate was fitted upside down, 30 second fix!
