Hello, just brought new Hitachi AX-M133 stereo. Turns on at switch but unable to get remote to do anything. Have fitted a new battery still not working, Please help !

The problem is not buying a remote but get the proper code. All remotes "carry" Hitachi but they won't specify models, just list you the codes.
So, buying a remote will be something like a lottery: feed your codes, and BINGO.... or nothing!
So, my only advice: get a good one, maybe one of those selled for DirecTV and cross your fingers

if the hitachi unit has a line in socket, you can plug an additional DAB tuner in to give you dab.

I sold a hitachi ax-m131U - very similar model - to a buyer who experienced the same problem. The problem is with the TV as it should not react to Hitachi codes. His TV was LG. He contacted LG support and a technician visited to update the software in his plasma!

Try cleaning the laser lens first

This should still be under warranty. It sounds like the internal CPU is confused. This could be a simple power suplpy problem or something a bit more complex. Return it for warranty service.
