Nikon Coolpix S10 setting up software

The screen says Auto-launch Setting... it asks if I want o use NikonTransfer when I connect my digital camera....
What I want to do is connect my camera to my Mac OS 10.5.4 and have the pictures automatically download into iPhoto.... Is "Nikon Transfer" the route to that happening, or do I need to choose 'No' and do something else?

Thank you I will check that out!
    I appreciate your response.

  • Margaret Reinke Aug 22, 2008

The site you directed me to has Mac drivers for Nikon cameras, but the Coolpix S210 is not listed as one of the models with which they are compatible.

After the transfer, close Nikon application then launch iPhoto and have it locate the images.

You need to have a mac compatible driver installed for the camera as that could be one of the reason its not accepting the command.

My flash stopped working on my nikon coolpix L110..

The Nikon Coolpix is a compact digital camera that is well-suited for amateur to semi-professional photographers. Occasionally, some issues with the built-in flash can occur. If the hardware is damaged, the camera must be taken in for repairs. More often, problems occur because of obstructions or issues with the camera's settings and are easily repairable. Follow the troubleshooting guide to fix the built-in flash.

Instructions:
1.Ensure the Nikon Coolpix digital camera battery is fully charged.
2.Wait several seconds before pressing the shutter-release button if the "Flash Ready" indicator light is flashing red. Press the "Flash Mode" button once or twice to change the flash settings from "Off" to "On" or "Auto" if the "Flash Ready" indicator light is off.
3.Ensure there are no obstructions, like your finger or the camera strap, that are preventing the flash from firing if an error message appears on the display screen and the flash is not firing when the flash mode is set to automatic.
4.Press the flash back into the camera after every photo to ensure the flash always fires in "Auto" mode instead of just in low illumination settings. Press the flash back into the camera to turn off the flash in "Manual" mode; otherwise the flash will continually fire.
5.Change the auto focus setting from "Infinity" to "Auto," "Macro Closeup" or "Self-Timer" by pressing the "Focus Mode" button once, twice or three times to automatically turn the flash back on.
6.Use only Nikon external flash accessories to avoid damage to the built-in flash and camera circuits.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

I have a Coolpix L100, and have installed the Nikon Transfer software. I am using a USB cable (that came with the camera) to connect my PC (Windows XP) to the camera. The Nikon Transfer software does not...

Alright..... I had this same problem and I finally figured it out. If your pictures are saved onto the card, then the USB cord will not detect them. If you want to transfer pics via the USB cable, make sure they are saved to your camera. You can copy photos from your card to camera vice versa under your menu settings.
Also, your card CANNOT be plugged into your camera or it will not see anything. I guess the card confuses the camera. Seems really stupid on Nikon's part.
Your camera only has a limited amount of memory, so if you will be limited on how many photos you can save to your camera.
Do this, and it will work.

I bought the Nikon Coolpix about two years ago. Suddenly all the pictures taken are overexposed. What do I do?

Two things to check...ISO (should be auto ISO or a setting between 100-400) and Exposure Compensation (should be set to "0")

Can't change flash setting in auto mode. (Nikon

Hi Dear,

You cannot change the settings of flash in auto mode. To change the flash settings you need to keep your camera in programmable mode or manual mode so that you can change the flash settings.

Hope this will help you. If you have more queries on the same. Please do write to us again.

Have a nice day.

Coolpix 4300 needs driver & update for vista

You can download PictureProject software from this address: http://chsv-soft.nikon-image.com/jpn/software/win/S-P2____-175WU-JPNJP.exe

That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".

Here is a quote from Nikon site:

  • We had released a Windows Vista-compatible version of PictureProject, v1.7.5, for use with the models listed below, and all models that followed. PTP (models supporting the PTP protocol) and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. However, the camera's transfer button can not be used to transfer pictures over a PTP connection. Set the USB transfer option to Mass storage to enable the camera's transfer button.
Currently, the new Nikon Transfer and View NX will replace Picture Project as our new Image Transfer and Browser applications. These applications support the same Nikon products as Picture Project.
COOLPIX P4, COOLPIX P3, COOLPIX P2, COOLPIX P1,COOLPIX S10, COOLPIX S9, COOLPIX S8, COOLPIX S7c, COOLPIX S7, COOLPIX S6, COOLPIX S5, COOLPIX S4, COOLPIX S3, COOLPIX S2, COOLPIX S1,COOLPIX L6, COOLPIX L5, COOLPIX L4, COOLPIX L3, COOLPIX L2, COOLPIX L1/L101,COOLPIX SQ, COOLPIX 8800, COOLPIX 8700, COOLPIX 8400, COOLPIX 7900, COOLPIX 7600,COOLPIX 5900, COOLPIX 5700, COOLPIX 5600, COOLPIX 5400, COOLPIX 5200, (COOLPIX 5100), COOLPIX 5000, COOLPIX 4800, (COOLPIX 4600), COOLPIX 4500, COOLPIX 4300, COOLPIX 4200, COOLPIX 4100, COOLPIX 3700, COOLPIX 3500, COOLPIX 3200, COOLPIX 3100, COOLPIX 2500, COOLPIX 2200, COOLPIX 2100, COOLPIX 2000,COOLPIX 995, COOLPIX 885, COOLPIX 775.We do not plan to offer compatibility for COOLPIX 990 OR COOLPIX 880 connection to a computer with Windows Vista preinstalled.
