You should replace the power supply module instead of trying to troubleshoot it down to component level, it may have shorted out bridge rectifier, shorted power MOSFET, etc.

Sylvania lcd tv

If a fuse should blow up, there should be a reason for it. If you replace the fuse without rectifying the problem and switch it ON, the newly replaced fuse too will blow up. Before replacing an other fuse, find out the reason and rectify it. There should be some shorted component/s at its main power supply board. Check and replace them. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It has schematic diagram of power supply section to many televisions. Pull up older posts by its left side bar. Problems to Sylvania too will be there.

Watching the TV and heard a "pop", it went dead. Opened up the back and found a blown 4A 125V fuse. Replaced fuse and plugged in TV. Fuse blew instantly when I plugged in the TV. Sylvania...

The power suply unit may be dead......if the fuse blows instantly it means that the main input is short.
possible parts damaged :the diodes from the mains, the power tranzistor and the ic from the primary part and other components around them.
First unplug the tv, unload the mains capacitor (using a light bulb) check all the diodes from the rectifing bridge, check for any shortened semiconductors or blow resistors.

BE VERRY CAREFUL !!! THERE IS A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK ,IF U DON"T KONW ANY ELECTRONICS TAKE IT TO A SPECIALIST

Tv blowing fuses

More likely to be either shorted out bridge rectifier or MOSFET in the primary circuits of the power supply. You need to Ohm out those parts.

Sylvania lcd color tv

if you have replaced the fuse already then you know how to open the back of the set . The problem is more than likely one of the diodes in the rectifer circuit . They will be the four large black components The bad one will have to be desoldered and a new one soldered in its place . It will take a small amount of technicial ability but can be done easily at home.

Sylvania 6632 LG blows fuse when plugged in

I too had this problem. I read some posts on this site about how to repair it, and low behold, they worked! I took the back off of the TV, and the first thing I found was the fuse was blown. With my meter, I checked the first 1N5406 rectifier diode after the fuse, and found that it had shorted out. Then I had to learn to desolder the diode, which I learned about on Youtube. I bought a pair replacement diodes at Radioshack for $1.49 and four replacement 125 volt 4 amp fuses. The whole repair cost about $5.00 and a few hours about learning about electronics. The TV works great! Good times!

Sylvania lcd color tv

try a diffenrt outlet if it still bunrs of a different fuse! could be the fuse not big enough for the different appliance on the circuit !

i would suggest take it to a tech it could be a problem in the tv that could cost only a few $ to fix !!!!
against trying to much to plug it in and out you could burn transistors or other expensive part of the tv!
