Either your motherboard, CPU, or GPU have fried. You can try to re-seat your ram but if there is no beep/beeps and nothing but a power light, and fan running for a couple seconds those are the only options. If your handy you might get lucky and get it to work for a little (as long as you have thermal paste) Remove heatsink, & fan, then the CPU blow out the connections with compressed air (to go the extra mile electronic cleaner) then let dry for a few hours reassemble, hoping for the best the whole time mind you.

Blank screen

Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen. If you can see an image, you probably need to replace the power inverter board. It supplies power to the backlight.

Toshiba satellite m305D screen blanks out after powering up. Power button light is on but the audio controls lights are still off.

do you see anything on screen to begin with?
if nottry removing ram individually.
use an external monitor to see if you have video if you do then you need to tighten the lcd harness as i have noticed on a great many m305's that the lcd and harness become separated, causing the lcd to flicker
if not you need a motherboard
