To replace a hard drive, you'll need to backup any data you want to keep, uninstall the old hard drive, install the new hard drive, and then restore the backed up data.

The specific steps necessary to replace a hard drive differ depending on the type of hard drive you're replacing.

My sony vgn-nr110e says bootmgr is missing

What version of windows? This could mean the hard drive is getting ready to fail. You may be able to repair it using start up repair.

I want to connect my Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E to my TV Samsung. But I have no idea how to do that. Could you give me advice ...

Hi,
Your Sony vaio does not have any TV-out port to output the display on any analog TV. You can use your VGA (by using VGA cable) port to output your laptop on LCD / Plasma / LED TV (with a VGA port also)). If you still want to project to analog TV via the VGA port, you need to find a VGA to RGB adaptor. But bare in mind, it's hard to find one.
VGA port is like the port on computer monitor. RBG consist of three colored port.
Good luck ;)

I have the same problem. I am having a sony vaio vgn-nr120e and my hard drive crashed. Please let me know the exact hdd to replace my sony vaio hdd. I am a novice in computers. I find somethings so...

I've replaced my Sony Vaio VGN_160 with a 120gb Seagate Momentus 7200rpm, 16mb cache 2.5" Sata drive. I would think all notebook SATA drives should be compatible. The 7200rpm drives cost the same as the 5400 and it only uses something like 5% more power. (I read that in a forum so I can really say if it's true.)
I did notice a performance boost from the faster and higher cache drive. It was enough to get my 4 year old Vaio another 12-18 months of life before I get a newer one. And you CAN install Windows 7 (x86 since my Vaio is a core duo and not 64bit compatible.) Yours should be able to take Win7 64, unless of course you like Vista.

Once you remove the stock drive from the drive cage, it's a matter of putting the new drive into the cage and then reinserting.
I would suggest you format the new drive before you replace it. I had the Vaio back together without formatting, and Win7 install DVD was not able to find the drive until I formatted it on my desktop. The Sata and power connector are standard so it was easy to do.

Sony vgn-nr120e stops working

Hi,

Uninstall unnecessary softwares from add/remove programs. Did you noticed that cpu fan is working? If not then clean the cpu exhaust system with blower and also check the cpu fan function in BIOS. When using laptop always use flat surface to place it, mattress or sofa create problem with cooling and exhaust system of the cpu fan.
Hope this will help you.

Is the sony vaio vgn-nr120e a 64-bit?

Hi, the processor of the this model Vaio is Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2310. This is a 64bit processor which means that it should support a 64 bit operating system. Whether it will come with a 64 bit operating sysem, depends on your order.
Here are two links with the processor specifications and the Vaio specifications:
http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=32431

http://www.clearanceclub.com/products/8959-VAIO-VGN-NR120E-S

If you already have one, you can check if it is a 32bit or 64 bit by clicking on: Start/right click Computer and select properties.
