You can disassemble the lens and clean the dust. Here are some photos of the disassembled P2 Lens http://fixit.limewebs.com/p2/

Lens error = Lens damage
The opening closing mechanism has failed because of dirt ingress or damaged caused by a knock
or early failure in a young camera.
If it is still under warranty take it back to the seller for replacement.
Be aware - there is no repair option the makes economic sense.

SOURCE: Lens error

There must be to much dust in the lens track. You can take it apart and clean it out. Here are some internal pictures of the Nikon coolpix p2 lens.

My cam fell on the floor, and ive seen its lens misaligned.i cant use it anymore ....on screen,,,, it appears LENS ERROR....pls help me,,,im in laguna area,,,and i dont know where to find nikon repair...

Your camera lens is already misaligned, so that Lens Error occur, it will not disappear unless the lens is disassemble, aligned the mechanism of lens ( the proper synchronication of mechanical parts) and assemble.
If you cannot do it, send it to the your nearest camera service center, call them first if they can accept repair on your Nikon Coolpix S210, how much, if repaired how many months will be the warranty.
I hope my advice help you.

Dear Expert, I have a Nikon coolpix S570 digital

Yes the possible solution is alright but there are errors within the camera. Sometimes the lens error is due to failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service center.
get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the Nikon service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Lens error

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.
