JBL EON315 EON 315 15 Powered PA Speaker Mobile DJ Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jun 19, 2011

Hello I recently bought a jbl eon 315 to amplify my roland td9kx2 drums. when i connected it, the volume was really low. Far to low to practice with a band, let alone gig with. I only connected one mono trs cable. Should I have connected dual stereo to single trs one? also the eon manual says to depress the mic line switch to select an audio instrument. The trouble is there is no mic line switch that i can see. The manual points to where there is a small light but no switch I hope you can help Regards

I know this is late, but... I ran into the same issue. Apparently on some models, there is round hole further to the left than the square on the diagram in the manual. You have to stick a paper clip or similar object in and depress it. It would be nice if they would tell you that in the manual. I had to call JBL.

The switch is a little square button above and between the 1 and the 5 of the 315 on the back panel. It is small and likely black and a bit hard to see, especially when it is pushed in. They are nearly flush with the surface of the back panel. Since you are not using a stereo mixer, you will have to use a mono cable (TS) rather than the TRS cablle. The TRS cablel would cause the signal to be nearly cancelled. The right way to do this is to run the L and R from the drum module into a mixer and then run a TRS cable from the mixer to the EON. As long as you keep the cable fairly short, the TS cable should work without too much hum pickup.

Thanks for your assistance. I've looked at the back of the unit several times now but there is no button. to the left of the red light there is a small circular indent indent, Inside this indent is a flat white surface. i wonder if this was the button and has been broken?

Oh, oh... yes, that could be where the button was. The buttons are around 3/16 inch square, and yes, if the button was sheared off, what you are seeing is probably where it was. Take a toothpick and press on the white flat surface... it wiil either go in or come out a bit if it is the button. This will be an alternate action button. It is between the two XLR connectors just to the left of the line/mic marking. This assumes you DO have a 315 model.

Eon 515xt - the 3 volume buttons move in and out about 1cm..is this normal or has something come loose inside?

Sounds about right to me. I have 2 eon G-15s. If you don't hear any cracking sounds you should be ok.

Speaker has no treble sound

Since this is a bi-amp arrangement there's only 2 possibilities here:
*HFdriver got fried or,
*HF Ic amp, that if i remember correct should be TDA7293 went out.

Let me know more to improve help.

I dont know how to connect my gem sound trf152 speakers

Looks like it takes regular home theatre speaker wire. If this is a powered speaker (like a JBL eon g2), then all you need is a passive mixer, and connect the speakers to the mixer. If this is not a powered (amplified) speaker, then you will need an amplifier to boost the sound source and drive the speakers, so you would connect the mixer to the amplifier, then the amp outs to the speakers.

Loud buzz/hum started on jbl eon 1500 powered speaker one side only after power cut off and sudden power back on makes same noise on it`s own as well as with mixer etc could this be a transformer...

For some reason the soft on protection circuit has failed. it is not a simple fix and would require the amplifier module to be removed from the speaker to assess the damage.

Hey I recently purchased a Roland TD-4 and i have no idea how to hook up an amplifier to it. My friend gave me a little amp, and i've tried many ports and cannot get it to play outloud. I'd like it...

First plug a set of headphones into the Left audio out and see if you get any sound from there... NOTE: it will only be in the left headset and this is normal. Turn up volume control... note the level will be low as this is a line output, not headset. This is a test to see if there is audio.

A new DM7 drum set line out has very low output. It is connected with drum combo Stagg EDA40 and if combo drum inputs are used there is practically nothing to hear . With combo maximum volume there is...

The sound on all the stock kits I found to be too low. What I did was create a custom kit and altered the dynamics of all the pads and cymbals - once you're in the dynamics settings, just hit the pads/cymbals the hardest you normally would and save that setting!
