I have a Nikon coolpix and the nikon software installed on my mac. With the camera on and the USB cable connected into my computer, the software will load but no pictures will show up to transfer. Help please.

You first should remove the usb cable from the camera. Then check if you did not force anything in the camera USB connector. If so please remove , but not with a sharp tool. if that is not wrong. please remove the battery and after a few moments reinsert the battery and switch on again. If that also not works, go back to the dealer, or contact a Nikon certified repair centre.
When you connect the USB cable from the camera to the PC, the camera should shut down. If it doesn't perhaps your cable is defect. Or one of the connectors, from the camera or from the PC.
When the cable works on another PC (or Laptop) you can assume the cable is good. But then the USB connector in the PC could be not connected, or the USB controller in the PC is not working correct.

First install the software of the camera to your computer it should be on the CD that came with the camera, then connect the camera via data cable USB and make sure the camera connectivity setting is USB connection. sir u need a usb cord for connecting it withy comp.. not al usb can be used.. there are specific usb cords to be used. for eg nikon UC-E6 cables available in market.. also u need drivers.. download that from suitable site.. thank u
Did you install the drivers to the computer? And install the nikon software to your computer? If you didn't that is probably your problem. Otherwise you can get a cardreader and use it to get your photos on you computer.
You need USB cable to attache Nikon camera with your PC in USB port. Picture shows USB port in your camera and PC has USB ports at rear and possibly at front too.
