Hi, I'm pretty sure the camera is a goner because lens' aren't meant to be shoved back in. More then likely the motor and some optics have become jammed, if not broken. Repairing that usually isn't possible and if it is it tends to cost more then the camera did.

Have you tried cleaning the lens contacts, both on the back of the lens and in the mount on the camera body?

I have a Nikon Coolpix L22. I was taking a picture and all of a sudden I got a lens error message. now, yhe camera is totally dead.

If the camera will not turn on, you probably have a bad battery. Replace the battery with a new one and try again. It is possible that the battery was almost dead when the lens tried to adjust and this may have caused the lens error message before the battery completely died out. Else you will need to send the camera in for repairs.

In the middle of taking pictures, all of a sudden my Nikon P100 will become blurry and then the Lense Error message will come up saying, "Lense Error: if the lense cap is on the camera, turn the...

Could be sand particles getting into the seams around the lens barrel, binding it up. Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

Camera not taking pictures

Sounds like you might have a lens error developing. Look for error messages on the screen. A clue is abnormal performance by the lens in tracking and zooming in and out.

FUJIFILM A 310

Hi
I had same thing. I took camera to bits and still didn't work. Then one day just before throwing it in the bin with batteries in and lens extended, I grabbed the outer ring (bigger part of lens near the body) and pulled it out a little further. I think there was a slight click then the red light turned green and everything was back to normal. Maybe I was lucky, but its worth a try because it definitely worked for me. Cheers John

Sony Cybershot DSC-W50

This is what sony cameras do when the lens has become jammed. There are multiple different reasons that the lens can jam but the result is the camera being unable to move it as expected and presenting that error message. Sometimes the lens can be manipulated gently (if extended at all) and freed from the jammed state. Failing this, disassembly is required. Check with your manufacturer for warranty service status and recalls. If they will not cover it you can find a repair provider online. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
