Miele 9820 dryer has check vent light flashing and no heat. Third time this has happened in 12 months. Tech keeps coming back and resetting high limit switch. How can I do that myself? Their techs take 1 week or more to come.

I am adding some pictures to help with the resetting of the thermostat. It is actually much easier if you pop open the top and remove three screws on the top side of the left panel in addition to the three in the back. That way you get more room to work with.

Hope it helps.

The only thing that could cause the high limits to trip is poor airflow. make sure your duct is clean, that it is not getting crushed when the dryer is pushed back into place, and that the flapper door on the outside where the duct exits your house is not blocked. You can reset the high limits by undoing the three t-20 screws on the back of the panel. it will be the left side of the machine as you face it, the side the hinge is mounted to. UNPLUG IT!!!!. get a flashlight, and pry the bottom corner away from the machine at the back where you removed the screws. you can get enough clearance for your hand without taking the whole machine apart. look inside, and there is a big round stainless steel burner tube on the bottom. there is a black thermostat with a red button on the side of the burner. you should hear a small click when it resets as you push it. if it doesnt click, it was not tripped or it did not reset. If you continue to trip the high limit without addressing the problem, the thermostat will fail eventually. it is not designed to be tripped on a regular basis. you may need to call out a dryer duct cleaning service if your duct is long or really dirty.

It's not hot enough-

Check that the exhaust vent/duct is clean and clear. If the exhaust airflow is restrict, it will effect the temperature of your dryer. Also, many dryers today have the lint filter. Make sure the filter is clean.

My miele drying machine shut off after a few use then wait for a few days to work again suspect that it got moisture inside.what to do

DRYER OVERHEATING:

Heating Element
A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Other Causes and Conditions
Air Flow Problem
Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat
Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.

Felt Seal
Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel
A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

I have a Miele T9800 dryer and it stopped working and the vent/filter check light came on. I checked the filter and vent and both are clear and removed the rear cover and made sure the heating element...

Hi - it makes me wonder as why we always tend to do things first prior to seeking the right/correct advice.

A T9800 Miele is not your everyday cheap dryer as you will know - the questions is have you still got your user Manual and if you do - have you read it carefully - it will tell where the problem lies and how to clean it.

I cannot grasp the fact that you would remove the rear access panel for a heater bank to check the resetable over temperature unit.

The machine clearly indicated a vent/filter error not a heat error - I know at this moment you have and are swearing & calling me names...

I will let you cool down a little ....................and I will tell you what you should have done instead of removing that panel Ok?

My whirpool is not getting hot enough to dry the clothers

Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum. Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Propane Gas Dryer (Whirlpool DUET Front Loader) not drying

huuum At your service!

Did this tech do some wash to the dryer and feel that there was no heat?
He was not a good tech

Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.

1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned.
Try this first.
2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked
with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out!
Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed.
Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door,
and or remove the screen permanently!
NO ANIMALS LIKE TO GET BURNT,IT'S HOT IN THAT TUBE! They sense this and stay clear.
It is 2 years that mine is off and all is fine.

You will be fine
Bless You huuum

Frigidaire dryer

there are several issues that can cause this most common is the vent restricted backing up heat in the dryer if its as old as you say you need to check the whole vent system it has to be 4inches dia all the way if its mashed or drooping under the house its restricted if its folded over or mashed behind the dryer its restricted the thermal limiter is a safety thermostat it opens about 300 degrees to prevent fire the dryer has three thermostats an operating thermostat a safety thermostat and the thermal limiter if the operating thermostat fails then the safety thermostat takes over and cycles on about 165 on and off if both thermostats fail then the thermal limiter opens about 220-300 depending and it doesn't reset and cuts all the power to the dryer till a tech can check everything i just told you about so if your vent is clear and the best way to vent is 4inch pvc drain pipe 90 it up behind the drier then connect with a short peice of metel vent then just replace all three thermostats
