Hi,

A couple of assumptions here:

  • your Audiovox 8 portable DVD player can play Video CDs or Video Games but not DVDs;
  • it used to be installed in a car but is currently being used at home.
Initially, pls try:
  • clean the lens/head/optics either with cotton buds or a CD cleaner similar to those used in CD ROMS;
  • check the region of the DVDs, they may not be compatible with the unit.
  • and lastly, pls check the specific model underneath the unit, if it says DPF800, then it is a Digital Picture Frame, if it says D1817, then yes it is a DVD player or something like that but would start with a "D".
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

The DVD that you are using may not have the correcrt region for youe audiovox that is why it cant read it, or ckdestroyer might be right about the lens not able to read the dvd anymore.

For manual try this link
http://www.retrevo.com/samples/Audiovox-manuals.html

Or if you may want to hack you audiovox to play multi region disk try this link
http://www.dvdcodes.net/newCodesAZ/codesA/audiovox/index.php

Note: read the instruction carefully or it may damage the device, use it at your own risk if successful though, you will be able to play any DVD region that is, if the lens are still working properly pior to what ckdestroyer said

Try a reset. Unplug all power and remove all batteries and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. Then power up again.

If all fails, it is most likely the laser diode inside the optical pickup has become too weak to recognize the digital signals on a disk.

My wii wont load up my game disk it just tells me to take it out and to read the operations manual for information and I cant find my . Why wont it let me play the game it wont even lshow the game going in...

Hello.

There are many reasons why your game won't load. The most common are scratches/dirt from the disk and incompatible game (PAL/NTSC). If it was working before, clean your game disk and the lens of your wii by using a lens cleanser. If you just bought the game, return it back.

I have a 7" Audiovox portable dvd player that keep saying loading then after it say no madia....

It may be that the disc you are trying to play is so dirty that it cannot be read. The other problem may be that the laser head is dirty especially with a portable device. Either way the machine cannot read the disc and gives up trying after some time. Careful cleaning shoudl resolve your issue.

Audiovox D1020 DVD player won't read DVD anymore

I have the same problem! The only way to fix this is to replace the motor that spins the DVD. if you take it apart and spin the DVD the movie will play. The motor is just wore out and has no torque to start the play process. I am still looking for a replacement motor for it and haven't found anyone that carries the motor required. Only Audiovox so far and they want 180 to send in and fix.

Portable dvd player will play music cds but not video dvds

Chances are, your DVD player uses one laser to read CDs, and a different laser to read DVDs (since Cds and DVDs are read at different wavelenghts of light). If the DVDs you're trying to watch work properly in other DVD players, it probably means that the DVD laser is dirty, damaged, or burned out. Though you can try cleaning the laser (use Google for suggestions on how to do this, or check the Audiovox website), you will most likely have to get the DVD player repaired, or buy a replacement. Many of the newer CD/DVD players sold today use a single combination laser, which reads both CDs and DVDs, which means that when the laser fails, it will not work at all. Wish I had better news for you, but I guess that the only consolation you have is that your Audivox player still works with CDs...
