Hi i was given a coffee machine by my frein the only thing is its in german can i change the language

Honestly, I've never even saw a Jura Capresso Impressa S9 Coffee Maker so excuse me that I won't provide you a specific answer, but maybe I can help you with some generic guidelines. I
According to your description, after 5 years it's presenting some problem.
About German language message, copy it to google search, between quotes and add word translate; see if you get some intelligible return.
Other trick to get a tranaslation is to send text to yoursel with gmail and select "translate"
Depending on content of that mysterious German message, probably you should look for some repair service. Maybe on your original warranty you have a listin of "authorized repair service" or the shop where you bought it can tell you where to take it.

Would it be possible to find someone who understands German to look at it for you? Maybe they could get it to change if they :spoke" to it in its own language.

The machines usually come with the language in the country they are bought in. You want to change the language. Once you are in the programming mode, press the up and/or down button until you come to language then press OK or equivalent. Then press up/ down until you come to the desired language and press OK. If you push the menu button, the first thing that usually comes on is the language. It will usually say something like "Spracke or Lingua" which is language in german and italian. Push the menu button again to enter. Then use the up arrow to move the astric to English and push the menu button to lock it in. Then you can exit and your good to go.

The program disc loaded into this computer was in German
An English version is needed
This can not be changed by typing in anything with the German version loaded into it

go in the menu if its in german lock the word in german for language go in it select english there you go pierre

Turn on the machine. Hold down the button that says steam/enter (the one below the blue button) until it says "Sprache" and "Wasserh.." . The cursor will be blinking beside Sprache. Use the down/up arrows (the large coffee and espresso cup buttons) to scroll until you find English. Hit 'enter' (steam/enter button) to set the language to English. Hit 'escape' (the tall coffee button) and your language should be set to English. You can also go to solis.ch and download a manual for your machine. Good Luck!

Yeah, when the machine is turned on, you click the "p" button (the descale button, actually, the one in the top right corner). This will put it into programming or selection mode. First, it will ask you about tome (or "heurs" in french, if it has defaulted back to the original language). You can cycle through a series of ssettings by pressing the button multiple times. One of the settings is the language setting, and you press the btton below the "p" button (i think it is the Large Coffee button) to choose from the different languages. When it is on english, you press the "p" button again to move on.

It sounds complicated, it really isn't.
