If they are rectangular in shape then they are pixel failures. It will only get worse, as time goes on. The single chip DMD will have to be replaced, or the whole optics unit as a drop in replacement.

is this a common problem in all NEC projectors, its only been used 3 or 4 times in its life and the dots are starting to get worse, can i buy a replacement DMD chip or is it a manufacturer job?

My SAMSUNG DLP HLT5675SX TV seems to develop little black spots all over the screen and after a while these black spots become bright white spots. In fact if a non-used Input is selected and the screen is...

It is the chip that controls the millions of mirrors inside the tv. If they are black, they are stuck closed. If they are white, they are stuck open. I JUST had the same the same thing happen with mine. I bought it 3yr and 2 months ago and I had an extended warranty on it for 3 years. Well, needless to say, it was out of warranty and I was pissed. The store I bought it from suggested I call Samsung. Which, I did. They asked for the model number and told me that my model (hlt5675sx) was one of the ones that is covered becasue they had a problem with the chip. Within 2 weeks, my tv was fixed by a repairman who came to my house. It works perfectly, now and it didn't cost me a penny. Good luck.

White spots on screen and growing every day

If these spots are small, they are likely the visual effect of a failing DLP chip. When some of the tiny mirrored surfaces on the chip stop moving, this is the result. This is not something you can fix yourself. A Samsung authorized service center will charge $400-$500 to replace it for you.

Spring w/2 tiny rollers loose

On my i455 all the rear slots are occupied. The front only has 2,5,7, 8 occupied. It works fine that way. I think the rear is more critical than the front to proper paper feeding. Good luck
