I just bought a friedrick 1883 50 pint dehumidifier but it came with no manuel. it's working great except its not collecting water in the water tray. what am i doing wrong?

More than likely, you have the humidity extraction setting to high. Lower it to 32-35% and that should solve the problem

I have also included a link to the Owner's Manual for your Model. Which, by the way is not 1883. That's the year Friedrich's started in business. Your Model # is D50D. You can download and print the manual for future reference.

I suspect that it isn't collecting water either because there is not enough moisture in the air to remove any water, or the humidity setting is to high.
