Works off mains and battery but wont charge battery.

Is your unit a 50amp unit? If so it sounds like you are only getting only half of the of the 240v. The way it works is you have 2 - 120v legs of power or phases. When one goes out then half the unit would not work. Your shore power could be the issue, your hookup cord, or your main breaker. If you have a volt tester i would test the shore power first to make sure you have 240v there. Then plug in your cord to the shore power and check to see if you have 240v there. Or if you are comfortable with it, i would open my breaker panel and check the power at the main breaker.

This is assuming the mains socket works ok

Try a different charger, if that does not do the trick you know it is either batteries or charging circuit. Then change batteries, if that does not work you know it is a charging circuit fault

Check the wire from alternator to fuse box for a bad wire or a break in it. or corrosion on it. Battery cables loose or corroded. Is the battery ok!! check the main fuses in under hood fuse box. Good-Day! The charging wire goes to the fuse box first.

You are looking at having to replace the motherboard here, as the charging circuit appears to not be working. I assume the computer works as long as it's plugged in, so the DC-in jack must be OK

change the instrument immediately

Since the camcorder will power up and work with the charger connected, it sounds like the battery has died and will no longer hold a charge.

Mines similar, outlets work but radio will only work on battery. Radio will not work on mains only. Charger works at same time so ok. SORTED IT TONIGHT. Inside the charger inside the box there is a fuse (240v 2A) I think, tiny radio fuse. Changed that tonight and radio now works on mains only or battery. Very awkwark job but better than watching a load of cr** on tv. Hope this helps someone.

Sounds like the battery and how the system is wired (circuits)
Some systems require the voltage reg chips to run through the battery before turning system on. When the battery fails, the system will not boot, the dead battery interrupts the circuitry.
Once the Battery is removed the open circuit then is allowed to go to a new path.

Try this. boot up system and go into set up utility. plug in the battery, if it shuts down, get new battery. If it accepts it, save settings and reboot into OS.
